Eternally Confused

A young woman - or at least a figure that looks like a young woman strides into the Nexus. Dressed in a stylish green Zac Posen dress and a pair of Prada sandals, she cuts a trendy, sexy figure as she takes a seat. She flips her long, dark tresses over her shoulder and gives everyone in the Nexus a questioning look ( Read more... )

"It isn't wrong, it's perfectly natural," says the young woman in a frilly dress and carrying a little green baby boy.

"But to have power and not use it because you can't be bothered is selfish. Sometimes it's important to not use the powers one has, but there's a difference between judging a situation and ignoring it entirely. Do you think you could really live with yourself, seeing news about hundreds, thousands of people dying because someone was having a bad day or didn't get enough hugs as a child, and knowing you might have saved them?"

"I see your point," Sersi says, nodding her head. "I'm not saying I won't do it when I'm needed, or jump in when there's danger. But I'm not too keen on doing it full time. I just want to party and have fun and plan parties and just live my life. Of course, if the world's threatened, or if something wrong is happening out in front of me, I'll jump in with my fabulous powers. But to do it on a full-time basis? Isn't that why the world has Spider-Man and the Human Torch and She-Hulk?"

Quietly, she puts forth another question for consideration. Her baby seems to be eyeing those expensive shoes Sersi's wearing. "Don't they deserve to have parties and fun and lives, too?"

"I'm not saying they don't. They both have party-people reputations. But they chose that sort of life. That doesn't mean I have to, does it?"

"Do you owe this reputed superhero anything?" Guillame asks the lady. "Did he give any real reason why it is necessary that you return to your previous profession?"

Amnesia is sometimes a fortunate thing when one's encountering crack AUs particularly variant alternates of people one has a cracked-out strange history with.

"Something about a Civl War between heroes? Honestly, I just wanted to get back to my party, more or less, but he confused the hell out of me."

"A private squabble does not sound like a reason or an obligation. If you did not care enough to listen, why are you bothered by his request now?"

Betawave snickers. "Not at all. Just because you used to be something doesn't mean you would want to go back to it on account that someone brings it up. Especially if, like you seem to be experiencing, a complete memory loss of prior events occurs. Just be you. Maybe you -were- a hero. But not anymore, and you seem to be fine with that. Don't let anyone tell you that you -have- to take up that burden again. For whatever reason. If it goes against your wishes, it's interfering in the grand scheme of things. There must be a reason why you're not what you were before now, a reason that you seem to be comfortable with."

"One of us decided to erase all of our memories so that we wouldn't remember who we were - or that we even had powers."

It's an act of will and respect for others that keeps him from using his x-ray vision. Tempting, but he won't.

"That's a tough question," the teen in what's either Buck Rogers-ish wear or a costume says. "On the one hand, you need to be true to yourself and do what's right for you. On the other hand, a good friend of mine once said that those who have power have a responsibility to use it wisely and for the benefit of others."

"Your friend wasn't Spider-Man, was he?"

"Superboy, actually."

"I...who?" Sersi stares at the young man curiously.

"You're friends with Tom Welling? Introduce me, that boy is serious cute."
