"Oh. Well, this is interesting. And the point of this was?" Tom mutters to Cain, then to the Nexus, asks more loudly, "Excuse me? I don't suppose anyone here has any ideas for entertaining an unsophisticated philistine while in London, do they?"

"I'm given to understand," replies a redhead with a fair number of bruises and a green baby in her arms, "there's a lot of pubs there?"

"After a while, drinking becomes a bit tedious." He looks in concern at the child and her arms. "Are you and the child alright?"

She nods, smiling at his concern. "Yeah Tom, I'm fine. And Alured wasn't there. Just needed to help save a king on the way home, you know how it is. I liked riding in Hyde Park last time I was there."

How does she know his name? And more than that, what the heck was she talking to him about anyway? He tries not to let the confusion show. "Glad to hear. Don't get youself into trouble."

"I found this place. It's too late for that." She winces when Alured grabs at her hair, bowing her head to murmur requests he let go. It doesn't work.

"So have you been here before?"

"Never. He," nods towards Cain, "dragged me through a...portal or something like that, and I suppose I'm here."

[vicioussweetie]

That gets a sympathetic nod. "Ah. Want the brochure?"

[tom_cassidy]

"A brief description would be nice."

[vicioussweetie]

A brochure's easier, so she hands one over. "That should tell you most of what you need to know."

[tom_cassidy]

"You have my thanks, lass."

[vicioussweetie]

"Ali," she corrects with a smile, "and this is Alured."

Alured, being a sleepy baby, is too tired to try and get a taste of Tom today.

"Tom, as you know, it seems. The pleasure is mine."

[vicioussweetie]

"Alternates are fun like that. I just hope... do you like plants?" Real smooth change of topic there. She's hoping he lets her get away with it.

He notices that she just switches topics like that, but decides to play along and see where she's going with it. "I'm quite the gardener. You?"

"I've more desire than skill, but it's not a bad place to start. The goslings and I have managed to grow some tomatoes, which has been exciting."

[tom_cassidy]

"Oh really? Tomatoes can be pretty devilish to grow sometimes, so maybe you've more skill than you thought."
