I guess this falls under fashion advice?

Okay, this question is really mainly for the ladies. Over the last couple of years since I've been wearing this particular outfit, I've gotten a lot of, well, interesting comments from my female friends and acquaintances regarding it. I don't really get what the big deal is. So, I suppose my question is this: can you ladies clue me in on just ( Read more... )

"It just looks really good on you, sir. Shows off everything - especially that you're in good shape. Heck, if Kory -" She stops herself. Ten to one, this isn't the guy she knows. "Well, your version of Kory, anyway, didn't give you a head-to-toe rundown of how good you look in it, I'd be pretty surprised."

Oh, um, thank you... Aurora, is it? Well, Kory's said a few things about my costumes before, but she didn't really get into specifics. Really, she usually just talked about wanting to take them off, but that's not the same thing.

"Yeah." She smiles. "It's really strange, seeing all these alternate versions of folks I know. But it does look very nice on you. Not just the fact it shows off how fit you are, but the coloring also fits you. Yeah, you can be dark and scary...but blue is also a color of peace and loyalty, and that stands out from the dark."

I'm getting used to it, I think.

As for the blue, I never thought of it that way, thanks.

Um. *stares at picture* Nightwing? And you don't get why? Okay, see how skin-tight the thing is? And your bulging muscles? And your bulging... other stuff?

Yeah, it would be the "other stuff".

I can't believe you posted this here!

But it's not like it's any more tight than, like, 90% of hero costumes out there. People like Bruce and Tim and Superman have the trunks part, that's all.

And I can't believe you just referred to my "bulging other stuff".

And the trunks part would be the part that covers up the bulging other stuff that I talked about!

*eyes go wide* Ahh! Again with the bulging.

"Can't say I'm female, but I'd hazard the fact that you're leaving pretty much sweet-screw-all to the imagination has quite a bit to do with it."

"Then again, as long as you're not wearing, say, a 'costume' with grapefruit-sized green half-orbs on your chest, I figure you're safe from the fashionistas ..."

Speaking from experience? Alas, very much so.

Zero doesn't miss that armour in the slightest.

Yeah, and I can concede that point. But I can name a half-dozen of my friends and colleagues who wear very similar costumes and they don't get anything like the same kind of commentary.

And... orbs?

"Might have something to do with the fact you're wearing black. It makes it more obvious."

"That, and -- well, if they like what they see, they're going to comment. What responses do you get when you're not in that rig, my lad?"

After an amused pause, Zero uploads an image of his own.

"Behold the atrocity my 'father' dressed me in."

"Commonly and affectionately nicknamed 'booblights'."

Okay, the black is something I hadn't thought about. I was just going for stealth, but that's a good point. And I'm just another guy in my civvies, so go figure.

Uh... did they at least have some function to them?

Here's one of my own first tries.
