It took her a few moments, but finally she shrugged, popped the top and took a swig. Blinked in pleased surprise. "Hm. This tastes like Bailey's."
She braced herself for something truly bizarre to happen, and when nothing did, she shrugged and wandered off, sipping her quite tasty drink.
She was halfway back to her couch when a white mouse came skittering into the Nexus portal and ran up to her foot. It had a folded bit of paper stuck to its back. She quickly crouched and scooped it up, wincing a little at the pressure on her bad hip. The mouse was apparently hand-raised, for it simply started fussing at the bit of paper, trying to groom it off of its fur. She extricated the offending object and unfolded it. It proved to be a note written in crayon.
"Please help us, we are in the old mill, the bad lady has us captive. We are Timmy and Anne, three and six. Please come rescue us."
She lowered the note slowly, a gleam coming into her eye.
"And here I am with a nasty magic sword handy.
"...must be my lucky day!"
She set the mouse down; it skittered back toward the portal and she hobbled after it, fighting a rather manic smile.
((Irish cream soda. That actually sounds good!))
