Black Mage Hatchling Trading Trip!

Ten little hatchlings maneuver a garden cart into the Nexus. It's loaded down with tubs of strawberries and raspberries, jars of raspberry and strawberry jam, raspberry and strawberry shortbread cookies, and of course those softball shaped vanilla cakes

A little human girl of about seven sees them and is Very Curious! So she heads over. No Heartless with her, though she does still look like Basi, and her shadow is a little more active than she is. 'I like strawberries and cherries,' she says, and looks into the cart. Oooo, berries and cakes~!

"Hello!"

She looks familiar to them, but so far none of them have quite placed why. A few of the hatchlings stare at her shadow, curious.

"Strawberries are good," Lono says. "Mr. 33 says we've had a lot of strawberries this year. More than last year."

She turns away from the cart, beaming at the one who'd greeted her, and at all of them in general. 'Hello!' And a pause for listening. 'Mister Thirty-three? Who's that?' She doesn't say it's a strange name - her perception of that has changed liek whoa in the last few days - but she looks bemused.

Her shadow moves almost like water as she moves, but less physical, rippling around her feet.

"Mr. 33 and Mr. 111 take care of the garden and the animals," Kaze says.

"I help with the garden sometimes. I like the garden," says Lono.

"And I take care of the chickens," Mistral adds.

Teo and Tavi, curious, try to poke at the moving shadow.

She's looking back and forth between them, following along, and - hey, are those wings? She tries to get a better look as she speaks: 'There are gardens on the island, too--' She blinks and looks down to see her shadow poked (cool to the hatchlings, perhaps carrying a fine tingle of power). She's used to other shadows crossing hers, but this feels different. 'Heeey. You shouldn't poke people without asking!' Hands on hips, here!

Blaze does what he usually does if he notices anyone trying to get a good look at his wings - he fans them out and preens.

Teo and Tavi blink in surprise.

"Sorry," Teo says, Tavi nodding along.

"You shadow was moving," Tavi says. "We thought maybe it was one of the shadow baby things."

"Heartless," Teo corrects. "They can look like shadows but they move."

Wings~! Or so she would be if she hadn't gotten distracted. She'd definitely like to get back to those, though.

She stares down, but can't stay annoyed. 'Ohhh. No, it's not a Heartless. It's me.' She pauses for a second. 'It just moves because I can't control it very well yet.' She sounds just slightly embarrassed.

"Oh," Teo says, blinking.

"Our shadows don't move like that," Tavi says. "Not even the ones stuck to us."

Teo nods. "Uh huh. We have shadows all over, but they don't move." The hatchling pulls a glove off to show her. When he holds his fingers together it almost looks like he's wearing a mitten made of darkness, but when he wriggles them at her the seperate fingers can be seen, surounded with a pitch black layer of something with the consistancy of a thick mist.

She blinks ... and then leans forward, bracing her hands on her knees. 'Saa ... that's so cool!' She lifts one hand, but doesn't reach out far. 'Can I?'

[mage_hatchlings]

"Uh huh." Hatchlings don't mind being touched. And there actually are soft, pudgy little fingers under the darkness. They also have faces under there somewhere, but everything is concealed in shadow. Only the Waltzes aren't completely covered - their hands are visible, the skin a lavender color.

[thebasi]

She stares down at her shadow for a couple of seconds, but reaches forward anyway to touch the darkness around his hand. Seems to be okay~. 'Where did this come from ... and your eyes? You look like Heartless, a little. But cleaner.'

[mage_hatchlings]

A few nods.

"They look a lot like us!" Teo says.

"But naked," adds Tavi.

"And we don't have antennae." Kaze lifts up his hat briefly to show this.

"We hatched this way," Luca says with a shrug.

[thebasi]

'Ohhh. And they don't have wings. And they're not purple.' Yes, Waltzes getting some attention now.

'Hatched? Like birds?'

[mage_hatchlings]

"Uh huh!"

"All Black Mages come from eggs."

"But only Waltzes have wings."

Blaze just preens. Yes, someone is a sucker for attention.

[thebasi]

'Wow.... What was it like in the egg? Do you remember?' That's for any of them that feels like answering.

And the preen draws attention! 'Those are pretty!'

[mage_hatchlings]

"Umm..." A few of them think about that for a moment, before headshakes follow.

"Uh uh."

"I don't remember."

"I think we were too little."

"The bigger mages saved the eggshells."

Oh yes, feed the already large Waltz ego. Blaze fans the wings out a bit to better show them off. "Thank you. I'm the only one that has any white feathers."
