Those of you who are immortal or ageless, however you name it...

Do you find it a blessing or a curse? Would you give it up?

Those of you who are mortal...

Do you wish you could live forever? Are you glad you won't?

Or if you don't care, a completely unrelated question...

What are your views on fan fiction?

"You like to make it hard for me to asnwer your questions, don't you?" She pokes her tongue out at Ephram, a move that makes Alured squeal.

"I think fan fiction is very worrying. But I think that's largely because I know so many of the people written about in it."

So, you don't care about the immortal part of my questions? Yes, he's smirking and actually thinking about poking out his tongue at her in return.

I can't dislike fan fiction too much, as in a way I wouldn't exist without it.

"It's hard to answer when I'm not really either." He might not want to give her ideas. Gemini wouldn't like it.

"Maybe, but surely you can understand how it's upsetting for me to read about my brothers and friends doing...things...with people they hate?"

It's difficult to understand how someone could not really be either, but I won't press you on the issue.

I think I could understand that. It certainly wouldn't be enjoyable to read about those I know doing things completely out of character for them.

Technically ageless and find that in the end that the benefits outway the disadvantages. While things have occasionally gotten very dark I know that I will be around to see it end.

I suppose in my case it helps that I'm not alone. While it can get lonely watching the passage of time take friends away I know nine others who are as ageless as I am, including my foster-mothers.

It sounds like mostly a good thing, then.

Mostly. As I said, I seem to be in something of a minority becuase I'm not alone. If I was alone I think it could be very bad after a while. Or perhaps not... I have a perculiar view on the cycle of death and rebirth and occasionally I meet people and realise that I knew one of their previous incarnations. Not even Serenity-sama can percieve that as clearly as I can.

Interesting. I wonder if the same happens in my world.

"Never really thought about. But if i was the only one I knew that was immortal, it would suck."

"There's some good ones of me and Kim, but then there's the Kim and Shego stuff." Ron shudders.

Yes, I think it would be isolating, and sad to see those you know not live as long as you.

I'm not familiar enough with your world, but if it's anything like reading a story about my husband or wife with someone else, I know it would hurt.

"They're archenemies, so, you know, it's kinda wrongsick."

Ah. It reminds me of some of the...slash fic I heard involved my husband and...someone who wasn't me. Sick and wrong would very accurately describe it.

"Fan fiction?" Poor Sonic hasn't been around the Nexus long enough to find out that he's a fictional character in some universes and there for hasn't run into fanfiction yet (funny since he's an alterante who's the main character of a fanfic himself). Not even real person fic since he's only just started out in his universe and is there for not famous enough. However, even though he can't answer either question, he's so curious he has to speak up anyway. "What do you mean, fan fiction?"

If there's a book or a movie a person likes, sometimes they write a story set in the world of that book or movie. That is fan fiction. They can't publish it, since they are using characters and worlds created by someone else, but there is a large community that enjoys reading fan fiction.

"Ah. I kinda sorta already knew that." He just didn't know what it was called. He doesn't spend time on the internet. Except for the occsional book, he's a playing outside type of kid. "I've never read any before so I guess I can't answer that."

That's fine... He pauses. Sure, he can accept the blue...talking thing, but he needs to know what it is. If you don't mind my asking...what are you? I'm human, my name is Ephram. I don't think we've spoken in the Nexus before.

It was? That's surprising, since a lot of humans want to live much longer.

You said you were much older than most of your kind lives, but I don't recall you saying anything about a problem with your age.
