A dark form is crouched on a ledge, wings half open as it surveys the Nexus. After a moment, it speaks.

"How does one ensure one's own survival when one's host will not let one protect the host?"

While distorted, it's undeniably Vincent's voice. But it's not Vincent speaking.

"The host is powerful. And this one does not wish to harm him. He has already suffered much harm at the hands of his own kind."

"Maybe it's a cruel to be kind situation."

A low growl, and a hint of fangs. "This one does not want to break him."

[freadernasansan]

"I never said you should go as far as 'breaking' him."

[unforgivenchaos]

"Being cruel would do so."

[freadernasansan]

He sighs and shakes his head. "My point was that you might have to hurt him a little to help him. You don't have to be cruel as such."

[unforgivenchaos]

A displeased snarl. "This one would never harm the host!"

[freadernasansan]

"Sometimes you got to harm people to help them."

[unforgivenchaos]

"Harming the host would break him and doom the planet!"

Why can't this creature understand that?! Chaos is speaking in plain English.

Frown. "What? How weak is he that he would break so easily?"

[unforgivenchaos]

"He was tortured and experimented on by a scientist, then the one he loved experimented on him."

[freadernasansan]

He frowned and looked distant for a minute. "Vincent."

[unforgivenchaos]

That calms Chaos down somewhat. "You know the host, or one of his others?"

[freadernasansan]

He nods. "I know one."

[unforgivenchaos]

"Hm." Chaos eyes him. "Then you understand now this one's reluctance?"
