And, once again, Elisa is in the Nexus.  And the Gargoyle she's with certainly should need no introduction.  Almost seven feet tall, lavender, and built like a brick wall.  The way her arm is linked with his, the way their tails are intertwined, the way she leans against him ever so slightly, this can only be Goliath.

"About time I brought you here, Big Guy," she says.

"The others had more pressing issues," he says.  "To presume that my concerns should be greater than theirs would have been inexcusable."

"You know, it is okay to be selfish every once and a while, Goliath."

"If you say so, my love."

Elisa rolls her eyes and looks to be trying to hide a laugh.  "All right, guys," she says.  "question of the night from me.  Er, I dunno.  I'm not sure I've really got a good one.  How about recommending some movies us or the rest of the gang might like?  Keep in mind it's only April, 1996 where we're from."

Goliath is, at least to those who know him or of him, doing something somewhat strange: he is smiling.  Elisa has been telling him he ought to do it more often.  After a moment of gathering his thoughts, he begins to speak.

"For my Clan and for myself, the last two years of our lives, long before we came upon this fine place, have been long and strange.  We have grown from a small group of six survivors to a growing Clan of seventeen.  My love, Elisa, shares our life with us and we walk through life as mates.  I was reunited with my daughter, whom I had long thought dust.  And I am learning what fatherhood truly means.  Brooklyn has matured into a fine invidual and brought with him a family.  Broadway makes Angela happy.  The others, too, have found new roles, new goals.  My Rookery Brother and Sister have been returned to flesh and blood and now also stand with us.  We have adopted Gargoyles who had thought themselves alone into out Clan.  We learned that we were not alone, not the last of our kind.

Our ancestral home is again ours.  Old enemies have become allies.  We continue to make a difference, protecting Manhattan and the world.  And though there are many who would still distrust us and do us harm, we continue to make new human friends, both near and far.  One day, we will gain acceptance.

And in twelve years time...  There will be eggs in the rookery."

He pauses for a moment before continuing.  "Elisa and I watched a movie together, once.  About a boy who inherrited a chocolate factory.  I did not care for it, but it did pose the most facinating question.  What does happen when a person finds himself with all he ever wanted?"
