Brad Crawford--a Brad Crawford, anyway, if such a distinction is meaningful for someone like him in a place like this--steps into the Nexus, and stops. A curious look passes across his face, slowly fading into a distant, calculating semblance of a smile, and after a moment he walks very deliberately and for no obvious reason 15 paces to one side ( Read more... )

"Does it really matter how I'll answer?"

::considers, or at least appears to consider::
I suppose not, if you don't think you have any control. If you're in control, well . . . whole possible time-lines are erased every time you make any decision, so, I'd say yes, it probably does matter a bit.

"Hn. The way I see it, my answer doesn't matter in the least. Whether or not I believe I have control will not affect the truth. Although, I'll admit that I think both are viable."

Ah, I see. The answer you give to me is, as you say, trivial, certainly. On the other hand, if you did--I beg your pardon, if you do have control over your life, then certainly the answer you believe in would affect the life that you choose, don't you think?

"No, I don't. Your question was any control, not absolute control. Whether or not a person believes that they have control, there will always be some measure of conscious, or in some cases, subconscious manipulation. The person will often react on a survival instinct, ensuring that their needs are met or their wants fulfilled. However, the person can only effect their life up to a certain point. If something is meant to happen, it will take a heck of a lot of foresight and plotting to deflect it."

If the answer truly doesn't matter, then surely you won't begrudge the question?

Axel's head tilts in amusement. Ah. One of those types.

"Of course not. The Nexus is a playground for us," Axel smirks. "The name's Axel. Want to let me know who I've been exchanging ideas with?"

::preliminary introductions done with, his expression melts into that oh-so-familiar knowing half-smirk::
The name's Crawford. Play nice, and I might even call you up for some reindeer games some time.

"Well Crawford, unless that was an offer to mess with other people's minds, I'll have to decline. I don't play nice. And I have a feeling doing so around you would just invite contempt and derision."

::almost actually chuckles:: Well, for the former, you'd have to talk to Schuldig.
As for the rest, I think we'll get along just fine.
