Ali smiles to the newcomer, then to the boy on her hip. "Hello there. Is the higher-up someone you trust?"

Maria smiles in return and her son gives Ali a curious look. Red hair does catch his attention after all. "Hi." She thinks on it for a moment. "I should be able to. She only spoke of the facts. I only call her a higher-up because she...holds far more power than I ever could. And she doesn't appear untrustworthy."

"Then, in the absence of other evidence, I'd continue with your duties. And I'm sure, if you're clever, you can find ways to look for your missing friend without neglecting them."

She looks at the boy again, wiggling her fingers in greeting. "I'm Ali. What's your name?"

"I've asked the other Hunters to keep an eye out. James is really clever though so I imagine he's still safe."

The boy claps his hands together happily. "I'm Maria and this is Mikey. Nice to meet you Ali."

"It's a pleasure to meet you both. I hope you hear from your friend soon."

She rubs the back of her neck, then looks at Maria again. "You make protection things?"

"So do I. It's nice to meet you."

"Yes. One of my jobs is to help protect people. And I am rather good with protecturtion amulets."

[vicioussweetie]

She thinks a moment.

"I'd like some for my children." She looks at Mikey, then at Maria. "I suspect I don't need to explain why?"

"No A Mother's reasons are all to obvious Ali," she says with a grin and out of her bag she fishes out a few pretty looking amulets. And mutters a few spells to activate them and begins weaving a few extra spells on top of that into them and holds them out for Ali to take.

"I added in a few to keep away some ..Things that are attracted to children. All the spells that I use for Mikey's amulet are on this one." She pulls out another. "This one is to hang in his nursery. It keeps babies safe when they sleep."

"Thank you." Ali takes the amulets, putting the nursery-one in a seperate pocket from the rest, then gives Maria a studying look. "How did you know I've just had a baby?"

"I didn't but I thought you might have one in the future Ali," she says with a shrug. "I find it's better to cover all the bases...One of my Hunters reported in a...Case recently that has my protective mode towards kids sky rocketing to an all time high." She didn't like it when kids got hurt. So she made sure she had things to keep them safe.

"That and it can be used for others if you have more or a friend." It was the good thing about that kind. The spells didn't get worn down over time for children. Maria thought it had to due with the fact most children didn't naturally attract the super natural unless they lived in an area that attracted it naturally.

"Ah." Well, that's reasonable enough.

"So what sorts of things do these protect against?"

[iceplussteel]

"Vengeful sprits mostly, keeps them from getting close enough to hurt them, Rawhead and Bloodybones, and burrowers. They tend to try and get inside children and can be..Nasty to get out." She smiles a little too cheerfully. "But thankfully I haven't seen one get past the amulets."

She nods distractedly, trying to figure out what the equivalents of those things are in her world.

"Thank you. It's very gracious of you to make them for people."

She shrugs lightly. "It is part of my job...So it isn't such a big deal but thanks. It's nice to hear someone appericate my work."
