He gets a glance from Ali, and a smirk. "This isn't American soil. You have no right to enforce American laws here."

The right of an enforcer of justice is valid worldwide. Super-Humans need to be held accountable for their actions, just like every other person.

"Fair enough. When you figure out what justice really is, come back and then we'll have something to talk about."

We're talking about the law here. That's justice.

"No. Laws are not always just. Justice is something less easily defined, something we all have to find for ourselves and treasure. It's what gives you the strength to stand up and say 'No, I shall not allow this.' Real, true justice is the heartache you feel inside when the world has been turned on its ear and something is wrong." There's a fire in her eyes, the sort people imagine seeing in the eyes of valorous knights who stood for everything good in the world.

"But that, my poorly-named tin can, is not something you understand."

Idealistic. The law is as close to justice as this world can get. And that's why we enforce it. At all costs.

"Yes, I uphold an ideal. I live every day for something that is beyond mortal grasp. But the fact that you will never achieve it does not give you the right to call this mockery by its name. Show some respect!"

Why don't you show respect for the government that does its best to protect you? Idealism has no place in this. What we're talking about is quantified in absolutes. Not dreams.

Ho boy, did he ever just say the wrong thing.

"I show respect to those who deserve it. Any group of thugs who thinks they have the right to declare another criminal for existing deserves nothing better than a swift ending. Life without dreams is nothing worthwhile. Life without ideals is empty and hollow. Any fool can be convinced give up their liberties for the guise of safety, which is why it falls to the rest of us to stand up and save them from their fears."

There would be no fears if the law was permitted to run it's course.

Ali stares at him while the enormous idiocy of his statement sinks in.

Then, she laughs. She laughs a lot. It's not a nice laugh. It's the sort of laugh kids have nightmares about hearing from their teachers.

And Ed is there, having just shoved the irritating thing away. "Just ignore him, sis."

Ali glances over at Ed, smiling faintly. "Someone has to teach him a lesson."

He grins back. "I'll do it, later. Alright? You really shouldn't bother with imbeciles. You've got Alured to worry about. Sorry I wasn't around."

"Yeah, and what sort of uncle are you anyway, ignoring him for a whole month?" She mock-scoffs, then holds out her arms. "Come here and hug me."

He grins and steps into the hug. "Sorry. Things are heating up back home." He glares at Iron Man. "Looks like just the usual nutcases here, though."
