How do you stop yourself from developing feelings for someone?

Such feelings would be irritating, inappropriate, and impossible to act upon. This doesn't seem to dissuade them, though.

Vasily looks down at his own hand, then smiles and snaps a salute. "Understood."

"I don't know much about the impermanently dead, so I probably can't be much help. Does this happen to you a lot?"

To me? No. I try to avoid the whole emotion issue. He dies fairly regularly, though.

Vasily nods, even though he has no idea what she means. "I find emotions mildly inconvenient. Well, other than amusement. And perhaps devotion."

I like the darker side. The rest of them bother me.

"Why is that? If you don't mind my asking."

*shrugs* I'm not used to feeling good.

"That's unfortunate. May I ask what you do?"

I'm an assassin.

"Oh." Vasily isn't quite sure what to say, but realizes he walked into that one. "So you travel a lot?"

No, not really. It's a specialized form.

[valedentin]

"Mmm. Well, that does complicate avoiding the dead man. What do you do in your spare time?"
