Selene appears intrigued, but then sighs and shakes her head.

"I cannot stay in this place... Whatever this place is. There is still unfinished business I must resolve."

"I get what your sayin'. Do you think the unfinished business might have something do with why someone wants you dead?"

"Yes... Not only that, but there's been a plague of bandits attacking travelers and there was the mystery of the corrupted iron. My party and I traveled to the mines and found out that the bandits were behind that. And it seems that they're taking orders from someone else too..."

She shakes her head.

"I won't be finding the answers to any of my questions if I stay here."

"My name's Ron, and this is Rufus." Ron says, simultaneously holding his hand out and pointing at the naked mole rat that had climbed onto his shoulder with his other.

"Hiya!" says Rufus, nodding.

Selene looks curiously at Rufus. "Is he your familiar?"

"Er, familiar? Don't know what that is, but he's my closest friend aside from my girlfriend. So what's your name?"

"A familiar, a summoned creature to act as your aide and companion. Isn't that what your Rufus is?" She stares curiously at Ron. She flushes when Ron asks for her name. "Oh, how rude of me! I am Selene. I was from Candlekeep, but... I'm not sure if that's really my home now."

"A Smarty-Mart...?" Selene obviously has never heard of one; the word sounds strange in her mouth.

"You bought him? That explains why I didn't recognize him. What is he? I have never seen a creature like him before."

"Are all naked mole rats such intelligent creatures? The only intelligent animals I've seen have been familiars."

Selene stares at Ron in surprise. "Are you certain that Rufus is not your familiar? The buying of Rufus from this 'Smarty-Mart' could've been the fulfillment of a contract."
