Selene shakes her head.
"No, I've been raised in Candlekeep since I was a child. This is the first time I've been outside it's walls. My father... he said that it wasn't safe anymore... He... I think he would've explained more, but then that man appeared and..."
Selene bites her lip and looks to side. It's still painful for her to remember that night.
"Safe? Here?" Selene gives a bitter laugh. "But if I stay here, how will I find the truth? And how can I leave my companions behind to deal with the bandits that are plaguing the Sword Cost? While it may be safe, I cannot stay here."
"I understand," Elisa says. "Protecting others is important to me too. Even if you don't stay... this makes for a great place to get away from your troubles every now and then."
"I bet it does... But I'm not too sure exactly how I got here. I would think this is a dream, but..." Selene shakes her head. "It doesn't feel like one."
"I'm... Not too sure. We'd just set up camp and I had decided to take a walk to clear my mind and then suddenly... Here I am." She spreads open her arms, smiling ruefully.
"One of these," Elisa says, pulling a small electronic dohicky out of her pocket. "I don't quite get how they work, but they let you come and go from here--or other worlds--pretty much as you please, so long as you know the co-ordinates."
Selene is absolutely fascinated by the dohicky; her world has not advanced far in the world of small, portable, electronics. "What is that? Is it some sort of magic?"
Selene stares wonderingly at the gadget. "But I have never known technology nor science to produce a artifact such as this! It can only be an advanced form of magic!"
"Can't say that I do. You haven't done anything that would warrent this kind of attention?"
