Well now, this was certainly... new. Jareth knew that the labyrinth was always changing, but the last time he checked there wasn't an interdimensional portal lurking in the maze. The Goblin King blinked and studied the sign for a long moment, frowned, then shrugged it off. A question, eh? Sounded simply enough ( Read more... )

Because, your Majesty, young girls barely know who they are yet.

"Not necessarily. If a gift is given and the recipient has little appreciation as to what the giver has put behind it. Young girls, particularly ones who have more often than not been given everything they ever wanted have a tendency to flit from thing to thing."

"Besides, offering her a challenge or two to meet in order to see the value of what she is being given can make one far more appreciative."

"Isn't a Labyrinth challenge enough when one only has thirteen hours to reach the center of it?" Oh yes, Jareth knows all about spoiled brats and their unappreciation of what he has to offer. It was part of the reason that he does what they ask. Most of the time he loves watching them struggle with their own faults and insecurities. When one lives with goblins constantly it does get a bit boring.

OOC: I never knew how many Labyrinth fans there were lurking in the Nexus. Now I have a better idea. XD

"That depends of course on the person traversing your Labyrinth, your Majesty. I take it she is a very bright girl? Of course she is, otherwise you wouldn't be wasting your time with her, would you?"

OOC: Heh, this particular muse wrote some fic with another Jareth here on LJ a bit ago. They had grand fun. It is good to see this character around again. :)

"She is bright enough, but there are many who were unable to face their fears and doubts about themselves and fell victim to the many traps within the Labyrinth. Just because one is bright doesn't mean that they'll complete the maze if they are unwilling to face their darkest insecurities."

OOC: This one has never written a fic with him, and this is the first time they have used him as a character truth be told. ^^'
