Spider comes stumbling in, so much that he grabs hold of a pillar to steady himself. His face is bleeding from several cuts, and so are his arms, where the shirt is ripped. After he's done heaving, he actually looks smug

Jake was there in a few angry strides.

"And...who am I going to need to kill?"

He fumbled around for his own handkerchief.

He smiles weakly. "Don't worry about it, babes. Unless you can kill all the birds on my bloody planet, I think I've come to the conclusion that you can't do anything about it." He reaches out his hand to Jake.

He clasped his hand warmly. "I can try."

". . . why?"

"Because all the birds are out to get me." He pulls Jake down on his lap, seeing as he's sittingg on a chair, not a couch, and holds him tightly, sniffing in his scent.

And his handkerchief was most decidedly forgotten. "Why?" He twisted around, looking at him curiously.

"I dunno. I think Fat Charlie did something. I'll ask him when I get him out of jail in a few." He still holds Jake tightly.

His eyes narrowed slightly, and he leaned against him very slightly so as not to agitate his cuts. "Jail?"

[a_nansi]

"Yeah. He may or not be under suspicion for a white-collar crime. Which may or may not be my fault entirely. Anyway, I'm getting him out, so he shouldn't whine about it later." He closes his eyes tightly and strokes Jake's hair softly.

[hasgreenhair]

"Mmph." He brushed his lips against his temple before settling back again. "That's good, then."

"I love you, Jake. You know I won't ever hurt you, yeah?" His voice is weak.

((Well, Spider's a special kind of brother. The kind that impersonates you and sleeps with your fiancée. I assure you that mine have never gotten me into jail *sniggers*))

"I know," he said firmly. "I love you, too."

"Okay. Good." He thinks that maybe, he should tell Jake what happened. Time to be honest, perhaps?

"...I told Rosie."

((I thought so, too!))

He winced slightly before relaxing his features and giving a very small nod.

"What happened?"

"She slapped me and broke up with me. Us. I mean. She broke up. And went away. She hates me." His voice gets smaller with every sentence.

"Mmm." He turned around and held him. "Want me to talk to her?"

"N-no, I don't think that'll help. Maybe she just needs time to think. Or..something. Sorry."
