She watched him with undisguised fascination. He reminded her of an old deck of cards.

"A PINpoint'll getcha s'mewhere else, if'n you know th' coordinates."

"Yep."

She tilted her head to the side. "Consistently. Always always."

"So you wanna get better sooner."

"Oh, were you not born with a wonderful, beautiful gift, as well?"

"I can hardly see how hospital food that tastes horrible could get you better faster."

He cocks his head. "But you seem good enough in my opinion. I do not understand parents sometimes. I spent years to obtain this wonderful gift so that I might be like my father and brother, and yet they hate me all the more."

"Indeed, you do need to get better mentally before you can physically. Though more times than not, your body heals faster than your mind."

She smiled slightly. "I do good things. I take care of my work. I ain't good 'nough for them, an' I c'n live wi' that. What gift didja get?"

"Well, it is a gift I gave myself, through many painful surguries, but I am triple jointed. I can bend and contort my body with ease." He proceeds to demonstrate this, twisting his body in unimaginable ways, though he seems to feel no pain. "Isn't it a beautiful gift?"
