"Is there any difference between retaliation and revenge?" He looks around. "And since when does this base have extra dimensions?"

"Yes, but it's not an easy one to discern. Revenge is seeking retribution, or evening the score, for something done. Retaliation is an immedate action taken for injury.... Or so I'd define it.

"And in a likelihood you've accidentally found one of the many portals connected to this place. They seem to be randomly located throughout time, space and dimensions."

"Me? Er- I was handing around a bottle of kanar, yes. That would have been me."

[prince_organa]

"So I've gathered. I've already found a few people from my dimension." He looks grim. "If that's how we're defining it, then I'm seeking revenge."

[drbashir]

"Oh? It can help, finding people you know in here.

"Revenge isn't necessarily a bad thing. What do you want revenge for?"

[prince_organa]

"My homeworld was destroyed as a test." For such a polite boy, he manages to put a lot of venom in that word.

[drbashir]

"... That's-" He pauses and shakes his head. "No, I'm not going to cheapen that with words. I can't imagine how that must be. I hope you find the revenge you're looking for."

[prince_organa]

"It's not something I want anyone else to imagine or experience." He tries for the dignified prince mask and can't quite manage it. "My side destroyed the weapon they used, so other worlds are safe for the time being."

[drbashir]

"It sounds like quite a horrific war... Would you happen to know a young lady called Leia, who is very adamantly not a war hero?"

[prince_organa]

"She's telling you that too, is she?" He just looks amused. "I know her quite well. I hope she hasn't been causing you any trouble."

[drbashir]

"She rather loudly announced it when I first met her and has been violently opposed to the title ever since. No, no trouble, she's a delightful young woman. Would I be wrong in assuming then that you're the prince she speaks fondly of?"

[prince_organa]

"Fondly isn't the word I would use, but yes, I'm Luke." Can princes facepalm? "It's a pleasure to meet you. If you sat through her war hero rant, I can only admire your patience."

[drbashir]

"Well, I would. She speaks very fondly of you to me, your highness." Yes, that honouriffic is acually being used respectfully. "Doctor Julian Bashir, at your service. It's a pleasure to actually meet you."

[prince_organa]

"Likewise, Doctor. I hope I live up to expectations." He tries to nod politely and grin at the same time. "Unless you're from my dimension, I'll have to have words with Leia. She never told me about this place."

[drbashir]

"No, quite a different timeline. We vaguely compared differences, our timelines seem to be among the more technologically advanced here. Most of the timelines haven't developed faster than light travel yet."

[prince_organa]

Definitely words, then. "I would ask about examining your technology, but I suppose that's out of the question."
