Clara is frowning. She doesn't like to frown. But she's thinking about things that seem important to her.
"I...have a few questions. How come money is so important to people? Why do people need it? And...how come people seem to need it so much?"
She gives a tiny impish smile. "If that's too much umm...Why do you think you need or don't need people

"Because money makes the world go round?"

"But isn't there another way?"

"Well, technically it's gravititational forces."

"I meant...Isn't there a way to make sure everyone is happy? ...Or is that impossible?"

"Money is what people use to keep track of how much stuff they can have. It's important so that you can buy food and clothes and toys, things like that. But some people are very greedy and think they should have more than anybody else."

She crouches down to Clara's level, giving her a little smile. "What's got you frowning, sweetie?"

*overhears*

"Nothin' wrong with that, of course."

She just tilts her head. "Then that must be why some grown ups works so hard."
She shrugs her shoulders. "The Sisters are getting worried. They had been trying to raise funds to help someone who needs it....I don't think they will."

"Yes, that's why some people work so hard. Who are the sisters trying to help, do you know?"

"Neither do I. It...seems to be a grownup thing. Like how to drive a car."

"I don't need anybody. I can handle things by myself...it makes you stronger having to fight alone."

She then caught herself and exactly what she was saying. Have I really changed that much, Rei thought to herself. "Well," she said in correction, "it is nice, however, to have a teammate and a partner. Someone to be there by your side no matter how rough things get."

She smiles brightly. "Like friends? They're the best!"

Rei grins. "Yes, they really are."

"Otherwise it'd be...really lonely."

There was once the spirit of a young girl who proposed that people do bad things because they are lonely. I do not think money innately bad, but I think perhaps people feel they need security, love, things, people, etc. at least in part because they are lonely. Money just happens to be the most convient way for most people to obtain the illusion they desire. But all too soon the cherry blossoms fall and they are alone once again, struggling to reach the illusion.
