The man of steel drifts down into view, his cape flowing around him. He lands lightly and smiles before asking his question.

"I am, actually, in that situation almost exactly. I just found out that I have a seven year old son. His mother ran away from me when she found out that she was pregnant and I only recently reclaimed contact with them. I was surprised, to say the least and then worried for their safety. Being related to me isn't the safest thing. It would bother me if Kavin couldn't know who I was, but given the cicumstances surrounding things, I understand if his mother chose not to tell him."

"Being related to me isn't the safest thing either, luckily no one from my world knows except for his mother and I."

[melkors_son]

"Ah. Well Kavin has inherited my eyes," he points to his startlingly silver eyes, "Which is known to belong only to my family."

"That's definitely a recognizable feature."

[melkors_son]

"It is," he agrees, "And for a reason too. But they put my son and heir at risk."

[blueboyscout]

"I'm sorry to hear that."

[melkors_son]

He shrugs, "Only a foolish man wastes time with sorries when there are things that can be done to prevent the ills. I have Kavin where I can watch him now and give him a good life. I will protect him and make sure that no harm comes to him." He flickers a glance at Superman, "I would suggest that perhaps you find a way into your son's life because if has inherited any of your abilties he will need someone to help him with them."

"If he has, I'm sure his mother will tell him eventually. He's only five, I think to tell him now would traumatize him. He's known one man as daddy his whole life. I'll be keeping an eye on him and I'll always be there when he needs me."

[melkors_son]

"I would think he'd resent you when he's older. Kids when they're little, can handle things better. It's easier for them to believe and to forget. Their realites are more maleable and they trust adults implicitly. Kavin, he was rightly terrified of me, but I was able to, with his mother, tell him that I was his father. And he seems to be taking it well. He's only seven."

He nods. "I understand. I want what's best for him, but I also want what's best for his mother and her relationship. I'm sure we'll talk more about it, but I don't want to step on her toes either."

[melkors_son]

"Sometimes you have to step on toes to do what's right for the child. I'm not suggesting you take up a relationship with the mother again, but some sort of joint custody maybe? You may even have to bring in the man she is seeing if he is going to be apart of your son's life."

"Things like this just need to be broken gently. This is still very new. She's going to need time to break it to the other man if she doesn't want to destroy him."

[melkors_son]

"Perhaps. As long as it gets done, at least." He admits, "Pandering around the issue will only make it worse in the long end."

[blueboyscout]

"I agree. I very much would like him to know me as father."

[melkors_son]

Theo gives him a nod of agreement, "I've missed so much already, I would like to be there for everything else."

"As would I."
