"I think it would bother me to be in that situation. But I would try to at least be a friend to the child. Eventually, the child will probably learn who his or her real parents are, and to know that their real parents had never been a part of their lives--for whatever reason--will hurt them. Knowing that the parent stayed near, and still cared about them, will mean a lot to them some day." He smiles, a little sadly.
"It may not seem like it, but that's good. It means you care about him, and he'll be happy to hear that." He still looks a little bit sad as he says this.
"Hm? Ja, I'm fine. But... I have been in a situation where a parent of mine was not around. So I think your child will be very happy if you are, even if it is not as a father."
He takes Superman's hand in his own, fuzzy and three-fingered, and shakes. "Kurt Wagner. Though I am also sometimes called 'Nightcrawler.' Nice to meet you!

"Very nice to meet you too. Do you prefer Kurt or Nightcrawler? I'm happy to hear you had such kind parents. Mine never treated me differently either."
"Either works for me," he replies, smiling. "You weren't raised by your real parents either, then? It's good to hear there are more people like mine, who are strong enough to raise a child like their own."
"You're an alien?" He looks absolutely fascinated by this. "That is so cool! Do you remember anything about your home planet? How did you come to Earth? If I'm asking too many questions, tell me to stop. Fantastisch!"
"I know most everything about my home planet, but don't have any memories of it, I was too young. My father sent some crystals to earth with me in a ship and those crystals contained all Kryptonian knowledge as well as knowledge from a lot of other planets that Krypton knew of."
"Were you a baby when your parents sent you away, then? It sounds like you were about the same age as I was when my mother abandoned me, but your parents did it with a little more style." And care. "It sounds like your father was very noble, to save your life instead of attempting to save his own. He sounds like a good man."
"I was very small, yes. He was a great man. He knew beforehand that Krypton should be evacuated but the council wouldn't hear of it. He made a vow that neither he or my mother would leave the planet or cause panic. That vow sealed his fate."
