Rae wanders into the nexus wearing a oversized T-shirt, pair of jeans and tennis shoes. She looks a little thoughtful as she makes her way towards where everyone just seems to converge.
"For you adults: Why is it when someone younger says that they have no intention of having children, some parents/grown-ups react to the information like you're committing a crime against nature?"
"I ask because I was in town earlier and some person had a kid who, while pretty well behaved was being kind of a brat, I guess it was tired or something, screaming his head off about wanting to go home. Anyways, I kind of gave that look- the one where I kind of wish it'd randomly vanish and leave the rest of us in silence- and the counter woman, made a comment about 'I'll understand when I have my own.' When I said I wasn't having any, she went off on me about familial duty. By this point and time I was a little.. umm less than... friendly. I told her in a rather snarky way that it'd be hell on earth if I had kids, grabbed my stuff and left."
She flushed a bit. "Unfriendly and rather rude I know, but this is the third or fourth time I've gotten that. So should I go back and apologize for being rude?"
"To those who are too young for kids or don't currently have any: Do you want kids? If so, why? If not, again I ask, why?"
