Hong is idly leafing through the Evil Overlord's Handbook, and is for the most part unimpressed.

"Sages. Why would a person need to be told 'I will not turn into a snake. It never helps'? And should we have people needing to hear that, might they deserve to learn the hard way?"

He claps it shut. "Who among you would actually find this useful?"

"I never knew that evil overlords had handbooks. Explains why they fail a lot."

His lip quirked a moment. "I find myself of the opinion that any needing a handbook don't deserve to succeed."

"True, but then again most guys think handbooks are pretty useless anyways."

An eyebrow raises a hair's width. "The famed Western 'Manuals are for sissies' approach?

[azarathsraven]

"Yeah pretty much. There's a saying, if at first you don't succeed, dig the owners manual out of the trash."

"There does seem to be quite a bit backward about that approach. Rather similar to the 'Fight first, negotiate later' tendency. I always considered it better to have the battle won before the first attack."
