Yup. I ran a world wide intelligence/peacekeeping organization for quite a few decades.

"Who is it you protect that has been forgotten?"

"You protect them from the humans?"

"But don't people still have something like kin, or households, or a jarl to protect them?"

Connor: It needs to be done. The indifference of good men is the single greatest evil in the world.

"I would think the ill will of good men would be worse than their indifference."

Connor: Good men don't bear ill will, except to the evil.

He laughs. "Then there are very very few good men."

"But why do you care so much about strangers in the first place?"

Because... even if they are strangers, you can't just leave them stranded when you have the ability to help them. You might be the only one who can help.
