I'm working through that on my own, though, and right now I'm trying to distract myself by focusing on smaller, more managable issues I have

So why not try and change that? Prove to them you're something MORE.

I don't need to prove how powerful I am, and the last I heard, the only way people learn to accept you for being "human" is if they actually know you personally.
