On lying to the police
Hi Sages. Henry (other_henry) and I haven't been around much, but we really need your help with this.
Law enforcement, creative types, and people with experience in interdimensional logistics are especially needed.
We need a cover story.
Here's what we need to achieve:
1) We need to explain to the police in our world how we vanished, him from his apartment and me from a hospital, and where we've been.
2) We need to call off a police investigation into a violent stalker problem we had that isn't a problem anymore.
3) We need to alert them to the danger posed by a group of people in our area whose identities we aren't sure of. We know that they're in a cult, and have been injuring and killing people using supernatural means. They probably have a number of orphaned children in their care right now that they're very badly abusing.
4) We also need to keep as low a public profile as possible.
5) We need to not sound insane. If we were to tell the truth, parallel universes and dark gods and ghosts and this Nexus, we would definitely never see daylight again.
This isn't a throwaway question, we really do need your advice. What do we say?
