So why can't I bury my tooth and have it turn into a soldier?

Because that's not how it works in the legend.

Zhilbar says it'll work.

Well, if this were my dimension and the appropriate age of Magic- which it isn't, in my dimension- I'd suggest that it might work better if one were to kill the dragon in question.

!! Kill the dragon?! You mean I'd have to die for it to Work?!

Well, Hercules sowed a field with a dragon's teeth after killing it, and that is the only historical referent I can find for this working, ever.

Note: teeth. You would at best be toothless, at worst dead and toothless.

But I just want one soldier. To do my chores and stuff. I don't want to die or loose all my teeth!

well, it's all or nothing, from what I can tell of the spell in question.

*Sigh*

A)Originally it was CADMUS, founder of Thebes.

B)Jason did it too as part of a heroic action to win the Golden Fleece.

C)One or a regiment, the ability works. Trust Me on this one. I have done this before.

A: you're correct!

B: You're again correct!

C: There's nothing in the myth to suggest that this works where I come from!

And I can completely understand that. Usually because dragons don't shed their teeth like other species. They have to be removed or broken out, in nearly every case.

But the ability does work, and for nearly every type of dragon. Worked just fine for the wizard Matthew Mantrell and his friend, the notable dragon Stegoman, for example.

As I'm sure you are well aware, a myth is as good as a mile.

Um... he is a dragon.

All of the words, Mr. Troven: 'dragon' is not the important one, here.

No, I suppose Kill would be.

Yes. And as far as I can tell that's really the only way to pull this off.

Hopefully the lad will get the idea out of his head, since that is a somewhat steep investment for the sake of having, er, a soldier.

Alec, while I bow to the good Doctor in many fields, dragon-magic is one where I feel I am a better authority.

You don't need to die, OR to use them all, for it to work. This is "old hat" for Me.
