Quiet weekend in the local area. Sunday afternoon with cousin Jenny and her family, post Susan G Koman “Race for the Cure.” It is Jenny’s family tradition they started in support of their mom who was a cancer survivor for over a decade. Now Aunt Marilyn is gone, and kids are growing, and the tradition is waning. But many happy memories remain of ( Read more... )

Wow- you are truly a great food blogger. And I have read a lot of them...Lots of info...never losing sight of the droll aspects of trying to outguess the secrets of peppers...
Love teh description of Molly's endorsement of your college cooking...a wonderful pink cheeked memory.
Let me konw how it goes...do you dry the chiles in nylon stockings, the oven, on a plate outdoors, in a food dryer ::??

Plan is to dust off the vintage 1980s food dryer ... see if it generates more heat than smoke. Otherwise -- the oven. Will try to impart anything non obvious learned.

Friend vespican has a positive local review for his fiction book so I had to stay even on the competitive endorsements. Mine wins for racyness, his for gravitas.

our good ol American Prairie food dryer is great in fall...it heats the house with great smelling air as well...jerky smells heavenly...
let me know if you hav to move it outside due to volatilized capsaicin attacking eyeballs etc...
