Stepmania 5.2, OSS, Alsa, Pulseaudio
Hey there! It was a long delay...
I haven't danced on a dance-dance revolution mat since the middle or the end of 2012th. And a few weeks ago I'd brought with myself from Moscow to Hamburg.
Well, then, of course, I was needed to install the game, and this part was the most natural part. Just `yay -S stepmania-git` in a console. Download a few packs from https://http://stepmaniaonline.net and let's dance!
That was. But then I was very passionate to connect this stuff to my TV, because of screen and sound there is quite better than on the laptop.
And I had precisely two problems:
- Huuuuge delay in video between laptop and TV over HDMI
- In-game sound didn't want to switch into HDMI PulseAudio channel
And solutions:
Because of a lack of video gaming experience, I just didn't know about a difference between normal and video mode on TV. On my TV it was exactly in the settings 'Picture mode'. So, it was easy.
And it was also pretty easy but tricky with the in-game sound. The game had moved all custom staff including settings from /opt/stepmanina into ~/.stepmania-5.0/ some time ago. And there is a file Save/Preferences.ini. And all we need is just edit line `SoundDevice=Pulse`.
