Prologue

Most of the elves were gathered around the training ground, though today it was not for watching any training. It was the yearly competition and there was only the bow contest for the youngest left.

"If I did not know, I would have thought that was you." Thranduil turned to his son as they watched the youngest addition to the family when he fired arrow after arrow.

"As long as you do not see his eyes, we would never know it is the only thing of his appearance that comes from his father." Legolas replied, never let his eyes leave Tithdareon.

"When will you tell them? He comes and asks me again and again to learn who his other parent is."

Legolas didn't reply, but they had had the same discussion through the latest 40 years. There were times Legolas regretted that he had revealed to his own father who Tithdareon's other father is, but if he hadn't he would have probably not be left in Mirkwood.

"You know I have not held you back to search for him, but I do not understand why you still have not. I have never forbid you. You know that Estel does not live as long as we do." Thranduil continued.

"I know. There has not been an opportunity when we meet. Now it is several years since I heard from him and we have our hands full here. I do not want to leave you. I have not been ready."

Their conversation was broken by a victory scream of the winner in the bow contest. It was not that surprising it was the elf that they had been watching and talking about.

"If Tithdareon keeps improving he soon will be better than his ada." Rinion, the weapons teacher said as he approached the King and Prince.

"I would say he has years yet of training before he beats Legolas." Thranduil replied.

When Tithdareon collected himself from his victory, he came to them where he was congratulated by his ada and grandada.

To end the day there was a celebration with a delivery of new posts for the winners. They had a tradition to let the best one go up in their place of work, before they eventually reached their majority. When Tithdareon won two of his competitions he would start to train for guarding the inner border, which he begged for years.

No matter what the celebration was Thranduil reminded Legolas to think about what they talked about and got just a nod as he would think about it.
