Introduction (Prolouge)
Many years after the last of the fellowship members had sailed away from Middle Earth, a sack was found when they were renovating one of the first houses that been built in Ithilien after Legolas had moved there to rebuild the land. In the sack were several letters. When they were inspected they were found out to be written by Legolas Greenleaf, one of the nine walkers.
As the story of what they did to save the world it was decided to save them. The letters were brought to Minas Tirith and the library to be safely preserved, and also to be available for those that wanted to read them.
They had special value when there were very few elves left in the world. There were only a handful of elves left and they kept to themselves. Those with elvish blood did live longer but often chose the mortal side when they had to come to terms with living without their relatives that had chosen not to be immortal. So have the letters from one of the last famous elves made it priceless for the library.
The letters were often not dated, and then not put in any order. Attempts were made to figure it out the order but failed. There also were no relies to the letters ever found. Many tried to understand why all the letters were in the sack, but no one could find a reason for it.
What they learned was that it was 30 letters in total and it was written to all kind of people, but the greater part to Legolas Ada, the King of Gondor, Gimli and the twins of Imladris. They also seemed to have been written after the War of Ring that had rid Middle Earth of Sauron.
