Summary: Dean is delirious and is talking about pink elephants. Sam has to take care of his brother for once.

"One, two, three, four to go."

For a few minutes it was silent in the room. Then the counting continued.

"Five, six, seven, eight was grey."

The pause came again, followed by more counting.

"Nine, ten, eleven and twelve are pink."

Sam could not keep his mouth shut; "Dean what are you counting?"

His brother didn't answer him. He lay on the bed, waving his arms and hands around.

Sam watched Dean, curious to what would come next from his brother. He didn't need to wait long.

"Cat, dog, wolf, bird fly."

Dean was quiet for a few minutes before the next sentence came. "Raccoon, snake, fish and whale are grey."

Sam went to the bed and looked down on Dean. Dean ignored him and kept with his weird counting.

"Hippo, lion, giraffe and elephant are pink."

"Dean what the hell are you talking about?"

"Pink elephants, they look amazing!" Dean actually replied to Sam's question and opened his eyes.

Sam looked into his brothers green eyes and they were absolutely not focusing on anything. Sam took hold of Dean and shook him.

"Dean, what did you take? Where did you get it? Please snap out of it."

"Candy, fluffing, cuddling pink elephants. Come to me."

"Seriously Dean." And silent Sam thought that was not what Dean should say.

A very frustrated Sam hauled Dean up over his shoulder and carried him to the shower. He didn't bother to undress his brother, just turned the shower on and let the freezing cold water run down on him.

"Sam!" Dean shrieked and then passed out.

Seeing his brother's slumped form, Sam turned the shower off, pried the wet clothes off Dean and took a towel to dry him. He then carried Dean back to the bed, wishing for him to be clear-headed again after waking up.

Sam knew he had to investigate what made Dean acting like a delirious fool. He would never have thought that his brother would have taken any drugs. He rarely even drank any alcohol, and that because of what had happened to their father. Dean had always been the most responsible of them and always taken care of him, made sure that Sam was well.

For a long moment Sam sat beside his sleeping brother, absently stroking over his hair. This had turned out to be a evening that he hadn't wanted to have. They were on a trip to just get away from their normal life.

Dean had during the day complained that he had a headache, but kept going and driving so they would get to their reserved motel room. Sam had offered to drive, but Dean had refused and said he would not have his 'Mary' driven by a 'madman'. Sam smiled at their earlier argument. It wasn't the first time and probably would not be the last Dean would call him a madman. He knew that he did drive kind of reckless, and he sort of was a mad man. If he hadn't been medicated things could have been really bad.

It was then it hit Sam what might have be the reason for Dean's 'pink elephants'. Quickly he went up from the bed and went to his duffel and toilet bag. He picked up his medicine bottles and checked the contains. Open the one he had labelled axpirins told him that there was less pills than it should be.

"You idgit." Sam said as he put things back.

Sam went to the desk and wrote a note on the block that was put there. He put it on the bedside table nest to the bed Dean was lying in. Next he took his jacket and went out.

When Sam had come back Dean had still been sleeping so he could crumble up his note. He had put a few things on the desk and then made ready for the night.

In the morning Sam was woken up by Dean exclaiming he was an angel. Sam drew the sheet over his head. He didn't want his brother see his smile and blush. He could hear how Dean opened the soda and drank. Wise from a few accidents from overdose his dextroam, Sam knew that you became very thirsty.

Sam felt how his bed dipped, as dean must have sat down beside him, and next he felt the sheet been moved from his body.

"Don't you dare to hide from me, little brother. I want you ready to share the day with me."

Sam was tired so he wanted to stay in bed little longer, but Dean was not in that mood. Looking at his big brother he could say that the worst of the drugs had gone, but there would still be the affect with extra energy for a lot more hours. Sam would probably be lucky that Dean had passed out instead off being awake, as then he probably would have acted like a Duracell rabbit.

They sat eating the breakfast, and they were among the first doing it as it was early in the morning.

"Dean, do you recognize this?" Sam asked and showed him the bottle he labelled axpirin.

"Yes, I took a few as my headache was bothering me. Why do you ask?"

"I thought you could read…" before Sam had finished dean said "What!" and he snatched the bottle from Sam.

"A, x, pirin. Asperin, it's you that can't spell."

"Yes I can. I deliberate misspelled it. I only use that bottle when I'm not at home, because I do not like to show off that I take dextroam. You should know not to take anything you really don't know what it is."

Dean moved his eyes back and forth between the bottle and Sam. Sam could see when it went up what Dean had taken.

"Oh, fuck! I'm sorry Sam." He became silence for up to ten minutes and two cup of coffee's. "Did I make a fool of myself?" he finally asked.

"Nah. Your headache made you crash before we were able to get out, but then you start to talk about pink elephants."

Dean put his hands over his face. Behind the hands came a 'sorry'.

Sam stretched out his arm and patted Dean on his shoulder.

"Don't worry. I had a fun evening. Maybe I should get some more dex in you so you could relax some."

"Please, no. Never!" Dean paused. "Have you taken your med?" Sam nodded, and Dean continued, "Have you enough?"

"You don't need to worry. Haven't I handled it for years?"

"Yeah, you have. So what you say, we forget this and go on?"

"I don't know, but I do think we can move on."
