Chapter 1
After some small chat, Lisa- her friend and boss - thought it was time to tell her why she had called.
"There is one thing I have to ask of you, Donna. It is actually the reason I called you. We need your help. You are so good at helping lost souls. We have got a new case, a guy that was in an accident some weeks ago and he needs help to get started with his day to day life on his own. Please can you do it?"
"You know that I am going to Australia in two weeks and will be back after a few months. Isn't there anyone else?" Donna had to remind her of that.
"No one that is as good as you, especially when this guy is as broken as he is. His world has totally crashed for him. We know that you wouldn't treat him differently even though he is a star. If we hadn't felt that he would need help as fast as possible, we would probably take someone else. But it is just to begin with. We would want the help and after that you can choose who would continue, since we do know you will go abroad. Please, Donna."
"I don't know… you know that I tend to go up in the work and I really haven't time for it."
"I know Donna. Though, I believe that if you only push him in the right direction, the rest will follow. Right now, he is lost. Please, can't you at least come and meet him?" Lisa begged.
"Okay… I can do that. When will you arrange the meeting?"
"Great! I actually set a meeting for him tomorrow, eleven o'clock. If you get here half an hour earlier, I can inform you more."
"That's all right, but I hope he does not expect I would help him, since I will not promise anything."
"He doesn't know it yet. I will tell him tomorrow about it and if you feel you can't, I will see if I can get anyone else." Lisa ensured her. "I'm grateful that you will give a chance. See you tomorrow."
Lisa hanged up before Donna was able to say anything else. Donna shook her head. Lisa knew too well that she was weak for helping lost souls, people like animals. Also that she was good to fix them to the right path.
Ordinarily, Lisa wouldn't call her at home to ask her things, so she did understand this must be an emergency.
She put the phone down on the table, rose, and counted her way to the kitchen. She put on the kettle, took the four steps to the bench on the opposite side. With her hands, she searched for the notebook and pen. She made the note that she would be busy the next day then turned the page. She moved back to the first bench took a mug from the plate rack and poured the hot water in it.
Making the ten steps she needed to the table, she sat down, drank her tea, and started mentally prepare herself for tomorrow.
