Winter Is A Wonderful Season

by Saga Chriztine Pettersson
This is a short story I wrote for a English class years ago. It is written 15 February 2000.

I think winter is a wonderful season in one way. All depends on what you like to do. If you are a sporty type you may want a lot of snow and cold, because you maybe like to go skiing, to go snowboarding or ice skating. These are things which are difficult to do in the summer. Even if you aren’t the sporty type, you can like winter. You don’t have to come up with any excuse to do things indoors or be ashamed of staying inside.

I’m more the latter type. I like it when the days are short and dark. Even the early darkness makes you prefer to disappear to the sheltered spot of your home rather than stay outside. My days can vary after the mood I’m in. I like to lie contentedly under a blanket with a good book or watch a good film and drink a cup of tea. Why not take a nice warm bath to warm up the temperature of your body. In the meantime play any one of your favourite cd’s. The early darkness makes it extra pleasant to light small lamps, bracket lamps and candles.

If you have a fireplace, it is another source to get warm. It can even be a relaxation to sit and see the flames eating the logs. It is even easier to be seated in a longer time and do all kinds of textile handicrafts.

So for me the winter is the best time of the year. Because I don’t have to be ashamed of staying indoors and doing what I love to do. I can agree with other people that winter is a wonderful season.

THE END!
