I spent Tuesday revisiting my old haunts (Capilano College and SFU) putting in requests for transcripts to be sent on to the Teacher Education Office at UBC. As soon as my credit card payment clears I'll submit the application and then get my reference letters sorted out. I'm a bit anxious about applying this close to the deadline because their website suggests applying a year in advance, but I wanted to have grades in hand for the extra courses I needed after finishing my degree. My friend who took the program applied in February and was accepted with time to spare, so fingers crossed...
It was nice to see Cap College again, but I can't say I miss the place all that much. It's a nice enough school and I had a decent time there, but even now when I'm freshly out of SFU and my attitude to the place is decidedly jaded I realize I feel more nostalgic about Simon Fraser and the times I had there than I ever will about Cap...
It'll be an anxious few months while I wait for my application to be accepted, though. I'm pretty confident about being accepted, but if I have to wait a year it'll be an unmitigated foul-up. Guess I'd have more time for Cadet stuff next training year and a good chance to make some money by getting a temporary job as a retail clerk or something (oh, joy) while I wait if it happens, but at my age I really don't want to spend a year in a holding pattern.
