Vampire Knight chapter 62 in English is here~!! :D ❤

Jun 29, 2010 20:11

❤❤ Vampire Knight chapter 62 in English is (finally! XD;) here~! ❤❤

Sorry for the misleading yaoi-ish teaser image,
but I couldn’t resist a sexy cover with my beloved Zero x Kaname OTP!! X3♥

I'm so sorry for chapter 62 being so late due to my workload this end-of-month taking all my time! ^^;;;;
I've been crushed under deadlines and dead tired all these past days. ^^;

But it's finally here~!❤

Enjoy the magazine version (while you wait for the book version to buy it, please~!) ^-^/ ♥

And the VK artbook will be out soo too!! X3 Don’t forget to pick up a copy too~! :D♥
*will make a post with links of various places with it for sale when she gets a moment for it* ^^/

It won’t be out on time for tomorrow of course since the artbook comes out in some days, but I’m totally viewing my pre-ordered artbook as an after-bday gift to myself because my birthday is tomorrow and so it's close enough~ XD;;;; *lol*
*wishes so much the book would be out tomorrow already, instead of having to wait until the 5th* XD *wants it asap*

But whether you order yours as a self-gift or for any other reasons, supporting the series and its author is lovely and the book is totally worth it~! X3 ♥♥♥

Onto a sad thing though, there’s only one frame with Zero in the entire chapter. DDDDDDDD:

So from the Zero aspect it's a pity... ;0; But there's a lot of Kaname content, so if you like Kaname, you'll probably enjoy it!

All in all, despite the lack of Zero the chapter is still lovely in that there’s a lot of gorgeous angst and some epic fluff, and it’s overall a super fangirlable chapter for anyone who likes the Kurans, because it's mostly about Kaname’s past and Yuuki watching it. The Kaname angst in it is COLOSSAL. *huge manga angsty situations fan* XD;<33333

So it was very lovable even if I sooo wish there had been Zero with them as well and Zero x Kaname fanservice too, ideally XD;;;. ;-;/ But hopefully next month he’ll appear more~! :D<333

Just in case, if you have such hatred of the Kurans that you feel you might bash any characters/pairings/the manga/Hino-sensei/anything or anyone because of their presence in this chapter, you might want to skip and wait for next month. ^^;;

Or if you intend to read the chapter, then PLEASE, do not bash. ^^;

Discussing is fine, fighting is not, so everybody, please don't attack each other or anything either. ^^;

If you dislike the chapter, then please focus on something else you enjoy, start a conversation about what pics of your favorite character(s)/pairing(s) you hope to see in the artbook, and so on. :D There are many ways to enjoy the series and the fan spirit without having to focus on something not going the way you would have wanted in the manga. ^^/

For example, I know well that the pairing I love most will never have a happy end because it's seriously impossible that Zero and Kaname would drop everything and run off together in throes of yaoi passion. XD *lol*
But I still enjoy the series so much anyway~ X3

I also love the trio together so much, whether or not it might have better chances of reaching a positive ending than the yaoi impossibility. XD; *lol*

There's always things you can enjoy in the series, so focus on the love rather than the hate, please~!. :D❤❤❤

AS USUAL, the commentary written in my post is shock-full of spoilers.
So please only read the commentary once you've read the chapter, in case I am randomly talking about later pages. ^^;;

And warning: the ramblings/commentary are generally full of wild fangirling. ^^/ (And pervy yaoi ramblings, often….^^;;; Cover your virgins eyes if you still have any. XD; *lol*)

For the most part, it’s yaoi fangirling, since I adore Zero x Kaname (and tend to wildly and randomly ship Rido x Kaname, Ichiru x Zero and a ton of other pairings also), but it also delves into plenty of other pairings, and particularly, I ship Yuuki with both of the guys.

So please no attacking me or anyone for fangirling the trio in a variety of combinations. ^^;;

And about the notes: I’ve seen many people say they found the chapter to be a confusing one due to the many flashback and memory reading moments etc., so I’ve tried to provide more explanations and reminders of past events etc.
Hopefully it will be of help. If you’re a person who has hatred for notes, please just don’t look at it? ^^; Although hopefully they will be helpful. :)

And the ones among you who mentioned the neck pain at reading them sideways, sorry. XD;
I put the notes beneath the page in the text of the commentary too so that you could read more easily with no neck pain. :D
For the most part they’re little explanations and reminders of past stuff or pointing out details on this or that, and other such things.

And just in case: PLEASE, NO BASHING of any character/pairing/fellow fan/anything or anyone. ;0;
This isn't the place for it (ideally, fandom is never the place for bashing). ^^;
Fandom is for enjoyment and fun. :D Something relaxing we do on our free time, to enjoy fangirlable stuff with the series we like. ^-^/
There's no place for bashing/flaming/hatred/attacks in that sort of thing, otherwise there's no enjoyment for anyone. ^^;;;

Please, enjoy fandom peacefully. X3❤❤❤

And onwards to the chapter itself:

:D

The cover is LOVE. SO MUCH LOVE!<3333333333333

They haven’t been together in a sexy cover like this since 2007!! ;___; MUCH TOO LONG!!
*hopes it will be far shorter to wait for the next time* X3

And I made wallpapers:

Wide 01 || Wide 02
Normal 01 || Normal 02

The current limited mail-order only goodies LaLa has for VK are stamp sheets again. :D

Click to see it bigger.
:D

And I couldn’t resist making icons with the sexy images of Z&K’s faces. <33

They’re free to adopt, if you feel like it. :D

Usually the back index page images are just Yuuki’s face or something re-used over and over or a repeat of a small part of any teaser image etc. in tiny format, so I don’t scan that part since it’s repeated and tiny and all, but... While it was also a repeat for this month’s one, it happened to be a small version of the sexy pic from last month in which Kaname looks so uke falling off of his clothes and Yuuki’s left arm is placed in a *cough* strategic *cough* direction (XD), so I ended up scanning it too.

It’s just missing Zero ;3; *clings to him*
*wanted Zero laying atop Kaname, joining Yuuki to team up on him for some kinky action* XD<3 *lol* *is shot for going pervy already before the chapter even starts* XD;

And the actual chapter:

Most people, when saying that sort of line to a couple with a newborn baby, are probably thinking of all the amazing possibilities laying ahead for the child in their future.
Rido says it possibly thinking of the tasty possibilities laying ahead for him once he gets his hands on the baby, as we could see in chapter 61... ^^;;;

Note: This is a flashback passed before the ancestor’s awakening, and so that we can see what was going on prior to it, with Juri & Haruka with their child, the little Kaname who was sacrificed by Rido in chapter 61. So that baby isn’t the Kaname we know, it’s the child who died.

Btw, Juri isn’t calling Rido “uncle” as in being her uncle, she’s saying that the way people say “you’re an uncle now!”, because he is little Kaname’s uncle.

And in case it isn’t as easy to tell, the first bubbles are all Juri (though the one about it being funny could be Haruka too, but it’s probably Juri.)
The bubbles in the frame with Rido are his, and the last one is, of course, Juri’s.

Note: Haruka sometimes calls Rido “oniisama” (vol.8), and sometimes, like here, he calls him “aniue”, which is also a respectful term, and slightly more commonly said by males than “oniisama”.
Because “aniue” is not as well known of a term for English -speaking fans as “oniisama”, I put “brother” and added this note as explanation.
Hino-sensei might have chosen to make Haruka use that term instead of oniisama in this particular chapter so that we could know when it’s Haruka speaking and calling for his brother and thus avoid the readers mistaking some of Haruka’s bubbles later for Yuuki speaking to Kaname nowadays, since the term oniisama is one Yuuki uses for Kaname often. (That way, Hino-sensei avoided creating confusion with the switch out of this normal flashback and back into showing us Kaname’s memories after the ancestor was awakened, and which Yuuki has been watching since the previous chapter.)

Rido’s supposedly homely words and behavior take a chilling edge when you think of the fact he’s actually leaving to go brutally murder the child in his arms! DDDD:

The actual ages of the three Kuran siblings have never been revealed, although we know from vol.8 that Juri is “close to 3000 years old” and that Rido and Haruka are even older. It has been speculated among the fans how much older than the other two Rido is, and while we still don’t know, now at least we know that the age difference was enough for him to change their diapers when they were babies.
We still don’t know the age difference between Haruka and Juri, but judging from the fact that when she decided to attend a human highschool, Haruka was sent as chaperone to live with her and protect her there, but wasn’t attending the school, it is more likely that she is significantly younger than him as well, rather than both being of a very close age.

Juri being the youngest, she didn’t have any baby siblings on whom to practice diaper changing, hence why poor baby Kaname leaks when she changes him. XD;
Haruka probably also knew how to do it, like Rido, hence his quick offer to be the one to do it, once he seems to realize his child is in danger.

Incidentally, the baby seems to be the most perceptive of the family, since he made a face when Rido entered, and then promptly peed himself when Rido picked him up… perhaps in a sort of dreadful foreboding, the baby could tell that this man would kill him. ;_;
Haruka also seems to have a distinct feeling that there was danger in the air, hence him rushing to offer to change Kaname’s diapers instead of letting Rido take him away. But alas, it was too late. (And if Juri hadn’t handed the baby to Rido, he would probably have found some other way to snatch him away later anyway. ^^; So it might not have changed, since his intentions were to take the baby anyway.)

:D

Note: The scene changes from the flashback to showing now Kaname’s memories which Yuuki is seeing by drinking his blood. That’s what the first line is about. The two bubbles after it are spoken by Haruka, calling out from beyond the door while Rido is inside the ancestral chamber, where he took the baby to and where he awakened the ancestor. (The “Kaname” Haruka is calling is his son, the baby Kaname born from Juri and Haruka.)

Note: When Kaname turns to look at the door, hearing Haruka’s voice beyond it, we can see on the ground the hunter sword Rido uses in vol.8.
It was quite possibly used to stab the baby early on in the sacrifice, and then the trail of blood is when Rido took the little dying body to the coffin.
We didn't see Rido use it in this flashback, but he might have brought it there to sacrifice the baby with it and we didn’t see the possible stabbing part, or it might have been simply as a "just in case" aid in his subduing and devouring the ancestor, in case his hold over Kaname wasn't enough.
Or, it might have belonged to Kaname and have been in the coffin, and he might have used it to wound Rido, if he didn’t use his hands. (Rido's got quite a wound lower on his torso, possibly from when the ancestor tried to incapacitate him for now, after what Rido did to the baby and what he almost did to the ancestor. Although this seems less likely since the sword is on the ground much farther away and from the angle it seems more likely to have been held by Rido rather than thrown away by the ancestor. That and the fact Kaname couldn't use that sword well against Rido in volume 8, because it's anti-vampire and Kaname can't kill Rido. So the chest wound was probably done without the sword.)

And onto fangirly aspects… Kaname’s hair!! *___* It's all messy due to the stay in the coffin and all, but I LOVE how sexy and bed-hair-ish it looks like!! The very longest strands of it reach lower than his knees!! *cough*YAOI PARADISE*cough* XD
And he’s so thin and frail-looking…!! The long and messy hair + the wounded body really amplify the impression of fragility and broken beauty… *cough* *is a sadistic yaoi fangirl into hurt/comfort fics* *cough* XD;;;
I LOVE the hair length, especially because of the mind image that if he’s sitting or kneeling on a bed, it would be just enough for covering the ‘strategic’ parts… XDD *lol*Just barely, so he can blush and try to cover himself better…

Oh, a blushing long haired Kaname splayed on a bed, his unruly hair all around him and partially over him, contrasting with his pale skin and the cream-colored silk sheets... 8DDDDD *holds back with all she has to avoid writing a yaoi fic chunk in here* XD;; *lol*

I must figure out a way to have some AU one-shot moment with current!times Zero doing Kaname in ancestor!hair mode!!<3333333333333333

THE HOTNESS OF SUCH A LEMON WOULD BE LIKE A THOUSAND VOLCANOES. 8D *dies from violent nosebleed* XD;;;;;;;;;;;

Uhhhm, serious manga pages are serious and tragic. XD;;; And yet, the yaoi moe can never be stopped. It doesn’t even matters how impossible a current!Zero x ancestor!hair Kaname pairing is, the fangirlability of it is huge. XD;;

Also, Rido doing things to Kaname is yaoi delight. 8DDD~~~ *dies of endless nosebleeding all over again*
If instead of getting incapacitated like this, Rido had instead subdued and taken advantage of the weakened Kaname... (err, ideally with Kaname’s beauty fully restored or him just a bit wounded, but not the just-off-the-coffin messed up flesh issue all over XD;)
*cough* XDDD

As the previous page indicates, Rido knew well that the ancestor wouldn’t be okay with just the sacrifice, or even more than that. So Rido knew that his prey would be weakened… Kaname was probably meant to be easy prey, not strong enough to defend himself well (especially against someone he couldn’t kill due to Rido being his master…. This is why Rido looked surprised when Kaname tried resisting him in 61) or live on his own the way he was due to how messed up his body was.
Kaname just had to be conscious so that Rido could devour him and get his power, hence Rido’s idea to sacrifice the baby and awaken Kaname so that he could devour him.

As Rido said, he had intended to devour Kaname, so he mustn’t have expected to be momentarily incapacitated by him instead, but it doesn’t seems to put him off… Because either way it turned out to be an apparent win/win situation from Rido’s point of view, since he is now gloating about the fact Kaname is instants away from losing control and possibly attacking the other two…

Note: The top frame is a flashback-within-the-flashback, of Rido sacrificing the baby, something we’ve seen in the previous chapter, and of which Kaname is thinking as he takes his decision and/or gets ready to do what he does to himself on this page, as we see him falling to the ground in the next frame.

The text box is Kaname narrating, by the way.

I can’t help but think that turning into a baby wasn’t merely done because it was the only way to make his body function without taking more blood, but primarily so that he would remove the danger to Haruka and Juri (especially since he was almost succumbing to the bloodlust and Haruka was about to open the door anytime, so it had to be fast thinking so that he didn’t come in and get accidentally attacked in case Kaname lost it to the bloodlust), and secondarily maybe also as an offer of atonement by replacing their child who died. Kaname looked so sad and shocked thinking of what happened, and he put his own life in their hands, making himself helpless and stripped of his own memories even… ^^

(Maybe not even simply to give them a new baby, but for them to have the choice between raising him or possibly taking his life in repayment for the child they lost. ^^; After all they could have easily done anything they pleased, and if they’d had the violent inclinations Rido had, it could have ended very badly for him.)

Just thinking of this all makes me crave countless fics on the subject. X3 It’s such a noble and beautiful gesture~!

Onto less dramatic subjects, the way his hair moved like that to indicate that he was falling to the ground gives me a billion nosebleeds and mind images of him on a bed, with his hair all- *is shot before she gets to ramble about Kaname’s sexy hair and AU ZxK + everybody xK for a while* XD;;; I have a hair obsession with VK. XD;

Incidentally, the great question remains of whether his body was that messed up and ‘incomplete’ because of the natural things occurring caused by such a long slumber (seems odd though, other than the drying etc.), or was he the one the hunters ate the flesh of? <--*really likes this possibility, especially if it turns out Zero is from the past too* 8D Fanservice, at some point...

Note: On the border of the coffin, you can see the bloodied cloth that once wrapped Juri and Haruka’s baby. (Rido said he was sacrificing not only the baby’s blood but also his flesh, so he might have crushed the body entirely, bones etc. also). On the ground, you can see Rido on his back, and the ancestor’s clothes, fallen partially to Rido’s side and partially over him when Kaname collapsed to the ground.
From the blood everywhere and the open coffin etc., Haruka seems to immediately realize that his child is dead, and mourns his loss right away. (If you remember, Juri and Haruka knew all along that Kaname wasn’t their son.)

I find Haruka wonderful in how he immediately accepted the new baby and raised him and all. He's such a sweet person~! ♥ *Haruka love*<33333333333

Note: It’s interesting to see the difference in the options they consider. Rido talking of sacrificing others to regenerate, and Kaname deciding instead that making himself become a baby was the “only way” he had against the thirst and the state of his body, (meaning that he wouldn’t even consider taking the other option). Even though Kaname knows well that becoming a baby would inevitably put him completely at everybody’s mercy.
And he’s made himself even more helpless by having also sealed away his own memory, becoming like any other newborn.

Kaname viewing this as “the only way” for him is a lovely proof of his good character. :D<333
Because the other way, which Rido mentioned, would have been just fine for someone evil and would have been far easier for the long run. Many others in his case would have chosen it. He could have attacked and drained Haruka and Juri, and maybe even more people, until he had enough.
It would be risky with him being weakened, but with the colossal hunger and the surprise effect, it might have worked. (Plus H&J aren’t exactly of a warrior mindset, as we’ve seen from their dealings with Rido. If Kaname had wanted to kill them, he might have been able to even in this state.)

We already knew from before that Kaname grew up not remembering that he was the ancestor, so he really was like any other kid. As we’ve seen in a past flashback, he had some déjà-vu effects that left him apparently confused wondering what the flashes of memories were, though we don't know how frequent or infrequents those moments were. (Apparently frequent enough that the council guard was informed, in any case...)
The council guards that would be constantly watching over him (and which Aidou felt they seemed more like people guarding a prisoner than bodyguards), and apparently they knew to take him away when he had the weird moments like that. They interrupted his playground escapade to see Aidou & co. in one of those moments.

Rido was allied with the council and so Ichiou was aware of the fact Kaname is the ancestor, but considering other purebloods even didn’t know (Sara didn’t know until Takuma told her), we can safely assume that whatever the guards knew of the whole situation was minimal, and they were there probably just to follow easier orders and report to the council leadership, who had an ironfist around the surviving purebloods.

Note: The scene switches now, with the right side of the page showing a pensive Kaname nowadays, with Yuuki drinking his blood and seeing his memories. The left side is Kaname as a small child, seeing the newborn Yuuki who then squeezes his finger in her little hand, a gesture mirrored by Yuuki now, on his shoulder. (Around the age he was in the top left image, Kaname still didn’t remember who he was, by the way. He was just like any other child).

Maybe this sounds like a stupid note to add since it describes the page, but the first time I read I thought it was Haruka and Juri on the right half of the page. XD;;
Then I looked better and realized it was K & Y.
So I thought I’d put a note just in case there's more people blind like me. XDD *lol*

Yuuki’s cuteness is unbearable!! XD
If there are any Yuuki-haters around, take one look at that adorable happy face and see if you can hate her ever again. XD; She’s irresistibly adorable!!
I was rather embarrassed to realize I was making noises very similar to the ones Juri does, when I saw this pic of Yuuki. *LOL*
(If you’ve heard the VK pureblood drama CD pack I uploaded some time ago, you’ve heard Juri going crazy noisy over the cuteness of little Yuuki. XD)

The image of Yuuki atop Kaname, on the other hand, is cute too but in a totally different way!! HOT! 8D

Please don’t throw rocks, but I’d give SO MUCH to see it with Zero being on top of Kaname too. *dodges rocks from het fans* XD;;
It’s not that I don’t like it with Yuuki, it’s utterly lovely whenever she’s with them too, but… yaoi between Z&K… 8D~~~ *salivates* It's irresistible.

Hence why threesome fanfics etc. are a perfect happy setting for them, there's Yuuki for both so everybody is happy, and yaoi fans have the bonus of Z & K together too~ 8DDD

This page is SO BEAUTIFUL. *_________________________*

And the way Yuuki caresses his face over and over as if trying to soothe him, before leaning over looking so sensual and asking to know more about him... *torn between fangirling Kaname’s epic angsty resigned look and/or exploding with nosebleed over Yuuki’s sensuality*

I like Yuuki seme. XD Well, actually, it depends. With Zero I tend to view him as a super-seme, and so it depends when it’s Yuuki with him, it can be one or the other depending on the mood and the situation I have in mind for the fic idea or whatever is playing in my depraved mind at the moment… XD *lol*
But when it comes to Yuuki with Kaname, because of the way he’s so completely at her feet and rather masochistic also, I get so many urges to have it be dominant Yuuki and submissive Kaname… 8D As a result, this scene with her over him, touching him, hits right into my favorite situations!! *drools*(Unsurprisingly, hahaha~ *has an obsession about putting Kaname uke, especially with Zero seme, but also with other characters when pairing him with so many. XD; …even Aidou… XD;;; )

Well, not that Zero isn’t potentially at her feet too, but he’s a tsundere so he resists. XD *lol* Kaname would just jump when she tells him to. XD Zero would complain first, then jump. *LOL*

*bravely resists urge to make pervy threesome comments about Yuuki topping them both* XD
If I didn’t lack time, I’d draw so many pervy het pics too, hahaha~ XD;;; (The lack of time makes that it ends up being mostly yaoi pics since I like yaoi so much… XD;;)

Possibly because LaLa magazine often tortures us with the teaser image lines, we were all wondering what would be Yuuki’s reaction, but it’s really not surprising that it is this one, of acceptance and totally trying to catch up with what she doesn’t knows of him. X3
It’s so sweet and caring, and it's SO Yuuki<333

Just how she accepted fully when she found out about Zero having been turned into a vampire, she naturally also accepts when she finds out Kaname was forcefully awakened and had to grow up without his memories at first.
Rather than chastising him for not having confessed sooner, she instead wonders why he said it after all. XD
*finds the reaction of wanting to know all she can adorable and so cutely caring* X33

And the words she spoke in this page, of saying he’s the only Kaname for her, are probably exactly what he needed to hear, considering how afraid he seemed to be to confess to her about not truly being her brother.
(He’s always been the only Kaname she knew, since she never met the baby who died a while before she was born. This Kaname has always been her Kaname. But of course, he couldn’t help being afraid of her reaction.)

For a while I was back and forth in a bit of a momentary slump about my liking of Yuuki, due to the distress that both of the guys get from her even if it’s not her fault, but ever since vk60 and vk61 and now vk62, my love for Yuuki is burning more and more brightly again. X3
She’s so sweet and caring, and so adorable, always trying to fix things for both of the guys even when it’s so terribly difficult or when she’s not even sure of what or how to do it… and yet she always tries. X3 Adorable Yuuki~! X3<3

Incidentally, it’s the first time she says his name with no honorifics whatsoever and without it being for a reason like when she had to appear politically mature and on top of things etc. for the other vampires at the ball. (Kaname had gotten her to call him without honorifics then, but it was just for during the ball.)
I doubt she would drop easily the habit of putting honorifics and of not saying his name just by itself (and either way he’ll probably still be her ‘oniisama’ no matter what, seeing from the next page when she automatically called him that XD), but it’s so sweet that she said his name this way in such an important moment. :D<3333333

yukk

By the last two frames of the previous page, I’m amazed he didn’t fall apart in her arms or anything. XD<333

I think it’s because instead of allowing himself to be finally reassured by her words, he’s still so certain that doom is imminent that he isn’t relaxing yet. D:

The face he had those past pages didn’t look like just one of sadness, he looked … so resigned and as if he was expecting it all to end anytime… D:
He’s always been that way, though. It’s nothing new. XD; Back at the school already, around the time he finally confessed his feelings to her, he also told her he feared so much that one day she’d hate him. She’s always been so accepting, but there are things in him that he never accepted himself (even his vampire nature, so paradoxically for a pureblood), and he seems to expect that she won’t accept him either.

It’s probably also why, rather than tells her whatever happened and get out of it easily, he insists for her to dig into his memories and see it with her own eyes. He could have easily told her the main lines and omitted anything that makes him afraid of her reaction, but he chose instead the path of opening himself to her totally and letting her take it directly inside him, getting the whole truth instead of a mere narrative of it….

*somehow is nosebleeding with a depraved look on her face* XD;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;; This is one of Kaname’s traits I find the hottest. XD;;

And incidentally, it’s SO SIMILAR to one of my absolute utmost favorite Zero x Kaname fics EVER, the wonderful “Secrets in the dark” by Blackened Wing!! :DDD ♥
(Warning: hardcore yaoi, don't click if you're underage. ^^;)

I don’t want to spoil the plot of the fic, so skip this little chunk here if you haven’t read, unless you don’t mind spoilers for the fic. ^^;/
Basically, in the fic Kaname was raped etc. earlier one while living under the council’s rule, but he erased his memories of most of it, and later on ends up regaining the memories, and Zero (who is his lover by then ♥) ends up seeing into Kaname’s memories too, and watching in it all that happened, in its whole unabridged horror.
Kaname is deeply ashamed that Zero saw it all, and is convinced that now that Zero knows, he will be disgusted of him and throw him away like trash.

This is SO CLOSE to so many things from the manga that it’s epic. 8D<3
For a great part, it’s because BW is an AMAZING author (the best of all for VK yaoi, in my opinion<333 *adores her fics*), and she REALLY knows/understands the characters, so they’re so delightfully in-character in her fics, and that results in the behavior naturally matching the way they are in the manga…

But the memory-watching thing is totally not something that could have been guessed ahead of time, and yet she wrote it in her fic way before this happened in the manga. XD So it’s seriously a wonderful case of great minds think alike, since there was no way to know Hino-sensei would have it happen in the manga too. XD

Of course… as far as we know so far, whatever it is that happened in Kaname’s past in the manga, it probably doesn’t involves him having gotten raped, (although more and more I wonder XD;;; *lol* j/k), but the feelings of being afraid of how your loved one will react to things you don’t accept in yourself and all, are so deeply ingrained in the character. X3

In that too, Kaname and Zero are so similar. They have SO MANY points in common. X3 ♥ ♥ ♥
*tries to refrain from launching into another Zero x Kaname love rambling, goes on with the commentary* XD;;

Just in case: I do find it hot with Yuuki too, of course. X3 My mind strays to Zero x Kaname, but it doesn’t means I don’t love it with Yuuki and the guys. Het stuff is lovely too. X3<33

When she bites, she sure bites! 8D *stares at the frame with the blood having splattered on the ground* XD;;;;;
Rough bites are extra-lovely since Kaname is a masochist, I guess~? XD<3

Note: We finally know how little Yuuki ended up on the snowy mountain, from the manga opening scene! They most likely left through the secret underground path, but until now we didn't know how she ended up being alone on the mountain and where Kaname was or why. The people pursuing them are probably the council henchmen that we saw Rido had brought when he attacked the house and killed Haruka. Little Kaname had no choice but to set Yuuki down for a moment so that he could go fight the enemies, otherwise, he would have led them straight to Cross' place where he wanted to take Yuuki to safety. It’s interesting to note the adorable aspect that even though Yuuki is unconscious from having been just sealed as a human by her mom, Kaname takes the time to explain to her where he’s going and why etc., as if she could hear him.

It was so cute, how he was all explanatory and caring even though she couldn’t hear.<3

By the time Kaname made his way back, it must have been barely on time, since by then Yuuki was awake and was being attacked by the vampire who’d somehow made his way to her while Kaname was fighting the others, and whom Kaname then kills in the scene we all know well and that starts the first volume of the manga. ^^/
He must have freaked out when he came back barely on time (or possibly because he heard her scream and rushed back), to find her almost being eaten by that vampire. D:
No wonder he killed the vampire so brutally, he must have had the shock of his life seeing Yuuki in that situation. ^^;

Those ten years were such a terrible period of his life. ^^; Yuuki lost her parents too, but she didn’t know it then, due to the memory sealing. Kaname knew it all, and had no one to hold him while he was feeling so down. Kaname lost it all, in a single night, their parents and her, in a way/for a while.

Btw, the reason why she’s showing up here seeing her own memory is explained later on. ;)
Basically, when you drink someone’s blood, you get to see their memories as we’re seeing… so she’s reliving the mountain memory, first as seen through Kaname’s eyes when he was a kid and then we're seeing the rest of it in Yuuki's own memories, in Kaname's mind, since that's what Yuuki is currently looking at.
Kaname has probably seen this memory when he drank her blood (at least, it seems to be what Shizuka is implying, and hence why she’s there too).

Yuuki seems much stronger now. :D

Note: As you saw, Yuuki bit Kaname again to see deeper into his past, and is currently looking inside his mind, going after the older memories. It’s not exactly ‘real’ people that Yuuki is seeing, it’s their blood and fragments of memories etc. inside Kaname (whatever parts remain after you drink someone’s blood, as Shizuka was saying), and that Yuuki is seeing as she digs through his mind/memory.

What Shizuka meant with her explanation is that Yuuki can see her own memory of the snowy mountain inside Kaname’s mind because he drank Yuuki’s blood and received that memory from her. Similarly, Yuuki can see here images of people, presumably ones from whom Kaname drank blood at one point or another in the past, hence the presence of Shizuka and Rido among others from this current time or from the far past.
(We don’t know how it works for blood from lower rank vampires in VK, but for pure blood at least it seems the blood doesn’t gets digested and removed exactly, or if it does it must be a rather slow process. We don’t know if part of it gets digested/eliminated from the body or not (probably, otherwise there would never be enough room in anyone’s body XD), but in some way or another the essence of it seems to remain with the person who drank, hence why Kaname still has Shizuka’s and Rido’s blood or fragments of memories or other within him a while later, and also why Zero could get Shizuka’s blood through Kaname and Ichiru, earlier in the series. :D

Note: These ‘blood-people’ appear to retain their original personalities, but they are merely blood and fragments of memories etc., so they shouldn’t be able to do any real damage to Yuuki, especially since they can’t truly touch her, this is just an image of her. Yuuki is merely looking into Kaname’s mind and memories, she’s not truly physically present inside this depiction of the blood people talking to her.
They probably just look like people shape etc. in those pages because presenting it that way is a much interesting/more fun storytelling method, which is probably why so Hino-sensei used this to convey the image rather than have a blood puddle speaking or whatever. *lol* XD It works much better this way, in any case~!

Incidentally, I can’t help but wonder, if Kaname is leaving himself so open to Yuuki probing inside his mind and she’s poking around inside it, can she accidentally poke at stuff and mess things up inside his head…? XD *lol*
(You’ll see, I’ll still somehow manage to spin this idea into a fic possibility along the lines of “Yuuki touches a switch somewhere on her way in or out of his mind and accidentally causes Kaname to fall in love for Zero* XD;;; *deeply obsessed* XD; )

Nevermind that VK is not passed in our world, I wish we could visit that place if it existed. XD<3

Note: The various scenes visible on this page are all shards of Kaname’s more distant memories and are all scenes which we can see throughout the pages of this chapter.
Contrary to the recent memories of the awakening, the older memories seem more broken up, possibly due to the long time passed. Hence also Yuuki’s apparent initial difficulty to penetrate those memories.

As we see in this page and the next one, the first purebloods that came about happened in different places all over the world, and it wasn't explained how exactly it happened, but apparently it might be simply the same way a new species develops and appears. (So we still have a lot of ground for theories there. XD)
It's interesting to note that although Kaname appears to be the first (the fanbook had said he is the founder or the Kuran clan and the vampire race, and this flashback too implies he's been around for a while too), the others didn't necessarily come ‘from’ him, (which also explains why the purebloods don't all look like Kurans. XD)

Up until now, because of the fanbook mentioning that he was the first/the founder, we had all been brainstorming wondering how the whole species could come out of a single man, since this seemed to be the logical result of "first of the race/founder" (otherwise, how could there be more XD), but from this chapter, it seems that he might just be the first of some sort of natural evolution, and the others are products of the same thing but not necessarily coming from him, just coming as the same species after him perhaps, and all over the world.
I'm hoping Hino-sensei will go into this in more detail. (I also have a big theory on cloning and mitosis and so on, in case they initially somehow came about as something cloned or naturally created from him in different places and he simply doesn't remembers or something due to memory loss… It's not impossible, although I'd guess it might be more likely that it would be simpler than that.

The idea that they might have simply evolved all over the world but on their own is surprising, but interesting. :D)

The term for ancestor in Japanese means the first one to start something, the founder of something, and it tends to be usually of a family, but despite the family implication, it can also be used for the first one of something non-blood related, like a founder of a group etc., the way I guess you can say in English that someone was the forefather of an ideology or whatever, even though it’s then metaphorical and not actually blood-related.
(Or in this case it would be the first of a new race).
It does implies family usually, but it's not impossible for them all to be unrelated either.

I'm not sure how well that would fly biology-wise, though, with the whole situation Hino-sensei came up with them being a new species developing simultaneously all over the world and without relation to each other... although I'm not a specialist, and well, VK is fiction, as far as we know Hino-sensei isn't a specialist of biology and genetics etc. either, so... ignore it if it’s weird in the manga? ^^; (There are weirder things in manga in general. XD)

It’s best to just enjoy the story and not get bothered if there are little bumps along the way on the whole radical climate change (without anything looking different XD;) or/and new species popping up in this manner and in various places, or the way civilization seems to take thousands of years to progress there the equivalent of a much shorter time in our world. XD;

It's another world, and it works by the rules Hino-sensei came up with, so the biology of it can be given a bit of a suspension of disbelief for story purposes. X3 It doesn’t has to work the way our world works. After all, we don’t have vampires either, nor the interesting specific little things of pureblood genetics and hunters and all that. XD

Note: As usual, Hino-sensei delivers info in a way that still keeps it subtle and allowing plenty of room for us to guess what else might have happened. We finally know now that the first purebloods came about scattered all over the world (so, possibly due to the new species somehow appearing by itself in various places simultaneously, rather than maybe derived from an initial case, although we don’t know yet for sure which is the case, since the manga hasn’t gone in detail about how they all came about), and we know that they had existed for more than ten thousand years, since that’s the time of the climate change. They had already been around before that though, and they just didn’t know that they were not isolated cases. So the ancestors could all be a lot older than this.

Since they didn’t know about each other, they were maybe living among the human race until then, and if it was the case then they must have had quite a bit of confusion over why they were such a different race even though they look like humans. This and Kaname’s tendency to pacifism and coexistence etc. might have had something to do with Kaname’s take on being a vampire, and his reiterated rejection of his own nature.

We don’t know why he was alone before then also, but with the whole thing of him choosing to live with people and not wanting to bite or turn anyone, we can wonder if perhaps it was that he had trouble accepting what he was and his need for blood etc. and was perhaps trying to sort his mind out. (Even in earlier volumes of VK, we get the feeling Kaname’s image of himself and his nature as a vampire/pureblood isn’t positive. He calls himself a monster, and speaks unhappily of the fact that vampire society acts so supposedly respectful towards purebloods as if they were sacred etc.) He might have had trouble accepting what he was all along.

We still don’t know the age the ancestor was back then, considering that he’d been alone for so long that he couldn’t even remember his own name. We also don’t know yet if he has all his memories of that period, but considering that he forgot even his name, it’s unlikely he remember it all. Maybe more flashbacks prior to him being given his new name might shed more light onto that in the future. :D

Note: They call him “lord” with the word that indicates “feudal lord”. But he wasn’t a far away ruler locked in a castle. As we can see from him interacting with the villagers and them being so happy and enthusiastically thanking him for him helping them achieve large harvests, (which must increase the quality of their life, especially considering the dire situation mankind was in because of the climate change and the considerable human deaths it caused.) He could have left with his own people and been fine, biting and turning humans without care, but he chose instead to live with the humans, try to help them, and try to survive among them hiding what he was.

The world doesn’t look at an extreme of cold or heat, so perhaps rather than the climate change causing the weather itself to directly kill people in large amounts, it might have been that the change in climate etc. was also affecting their farms (weather changes can destroy entire harvests, especially if it’s a large change) and that the resulting shortage in food caused famines. In such a case, help to achieve abundant harvests would be an even more precious thing for the living conditions and survival of the population.

Critical conditions and large population death can also go hand in hand with epidemics (especially since when there are large casualties in the population, it’s not always possible to properly dispose of the bodies, and so disease quickly spreads to the living), something to which purebloods would be immune, but their blood could save the sick humans without turning them, since it’s been stated in VK that a pureblood’s blood is the ultimate medicine, to the point that there are people who try to capture them to illegally harvest and sell their blood too, even in current-times VK!

And to anyone prone to bashing or similar: Before you accuse Kaname of whatever horrible things and say he’s some monster because of something as inevitable as his race and its needs having maybe made him sneak out blood (food…) in secret so he could survive, please keep in mind that:

1) We don’t exactly know 100% for sure whether it’s actually true that he took their blood. It definitely seems to be the case from the scene with the syringe, and it was probably that since he had to eat but wasn't biting anyone. But when the villagers went after him all they had on that subject were rumors, and yet they still went for it… DDDDD: Despite the fact that he was also giving them his own blood as the other guy said
With the other things about him like the sunlight and not aging, the rumors could have spread on their own and they might have still attacked him even if it hadn't been true.
There were other vampires by then, and rumors and superstition on them might exist also (if it’s anything like in ancient villages of our world, they must be just as prone to go into rabid ‘burn the witch!!’ mode without bothering to check if it’s fair or true…), hence making the villagers jump to conclusions about anyone not aging or going in the sun being a “beast” (pitchfork wielding mobs out to lynch someone for being different are not generally known for their gentleness or sense of fairness after all.)

Even if he had drank little bits of their blood, the way they treated him was definitely terribly unfair after all he did for them. D:

2) Instead of secretly taking little bits of blood, he could have simply given in to his vampiric needs and done like so many others would have been doing, attacking people, biting and turning them into vampires for each meal he had, then left them to die a horrible death after losing their sanity and attacking others. Do you think this option would have been better than him hiding around to sneak little bits of blood out so he could go on living? ^^;; I think he picked an imperfect solution in an imperfect world, but it was far better than a more vampiric option.

3) Even if he did take their blood, he was also giving his own to them. So it’s not like he was taking without giving anything back. And considering how his blood could heal them from anything as well as strengthen them and possibly lengthen their lives, they’re seriously winning in the change.

4) Even if he did take their blood, this in the far past, when there were no blood tablets or possible donors etc. available around. Sure, it was bad to do it in secret, but he didn’t have many choices to survive without turning people.

Would you condemn someone who snuck out bit of food from other people in secret so they could live? When they had no other way to eat there and then? ^^; And when they did so much to repay the people in exchange for the food(blood) gotten in secret?

5) You can see how they reacted with the pitchforks just because seeing that his blood was special and that he didn’t age & avoided sunlight, even though all they had for the blood-taking thing was rumors as they said.
But rumors and sunlight etc. were enough for them to reject him for not being like them. They cast away the man who had helped them so much, for a great part due to rumors and superstitions, instead of accepting that he might be of a different race but still helped them a lot and cared for them deeply. (He wouldn't have lived with them and done so much for them if he didn't care.)

They could have tried to understand and work something out… D: It must have hurt so much to have everybody turn against him and throw him out like a rabid animal or something just because he wasn't born like them. ^^;

And from how it went you can also imagine how it would have gone if he’d tried to explain to them that he’s not human and needs blood to live, from the start before they even liked him. He wouldn’t have gotten any blood, he’d have gotten the pitchforks from the start.

6) Once the pitchfork crowd kicked him out or he fled the place, he seems to have gone back to living alone for some time before sort-of-joining the vampire society group, but by the end of the chapter we find out that even after he joined the others he wasn't biting people like the others and was instead starving himself until passing out and being apparently found unconscious by other purebloods, something no one else had done before, according to them.

His determination to not attack people or bite them was such that he would push himself that far and completely endanger his own life since any passing-by pureblood could have taken his life to gain power, while he was weakened or even unconscious.

So please, don’t act like “Kaname is a disgusting person” or “has it easy/didn’t suffer” and the many unfair things that people who like to bash him tend to say.

And Zero may not be in this chapter much but I must preventively also say, please, don’t act like Zero is crap either or anything like that because we’re now starting to see that Kaname suffered through a lot more things than we knew before.

People sometimes tend to want to compare them as if that could make one good and the other crappy, when that's rather pointless... they're both interesting characters with a LOT in common and a lot different.

The life or suffering of one or the other does NOT make either of them less good or okay to bash in any way. D:
Both Zero and Kaname are wonderful characters, and fate seriously screwed with them, both. They both each have downsides and good sides, just how they both had horrible things happen to them in their lives, and a few lucky moments at other times (although in both cases, the lucky moments seemed to be few and far between, not to mention both guys seem to be always sure it won’t last… ^^; )
They’re similar and yet different, but that doesn’t make one perfect and the other garbage like some people into bashing like to present. D:

And in fact, there’s so many things in which they’re more similar than one might think. ^^

He seems so dejected, all alone underneath that tree… ;_; *dying to know what happened and whether he at least got to get his stuff before being kicked out of the place he lived in for so long* ^^; (The guy at the village said Kaname had been with them since the previous generation... that's a while.)

Considering how much he wanted to help them etc., I don’t think he did anything bad to them, but I wonder if THEY did something to him and he let them... *__* <-- (You can see here the face of a depraved yaoi fangirl craving kinky fanfiction. XD;;;; *lol* )

He's heard people insulting him like that so much.... no wonder he does seem to believe that he is exactly what they call him. D:

She's right, they are very similar, in so many ways. X3

(And in this particular case, a lot in the whole 'you don't belong with us!! Go away monster!!' type of idea that both of them suffer so much from.
Zero because he was turned and is no longer human like the other hunters, and Kaname because he yearned to help the humans but was ultimately cast out because he was different from them.
So even though they are different, they are also so similar, in their yearning for humanity and pain of not being able to have it.<3)

Note: They say “servants” to mean humans turned into vampires after being bitten by a pureblood. Their comments indicate that even among the people who apparently care about humans and who invited Kaname to join the beginning vampire society, they also bite humans and feed on them, turning them (and keeping them as servants, although we don’t know if it’s until they fall to level E, or if they’re stabilized). They try to limit the amount, unlike the less well-intentioned ones who turn large numbers of humans for fun, but they’re still turning humans. It seems that Kaname’s refusal to bite/turn humans is something very exceptional in their society as a whole.
(Exceptional and looks frowned upon, as we can see in the next page.)

And incidentally, the large amounts of turned ex-humans also need to feed on blood, making the problem bigger, and probably exacerbating the human population’s already superstitious nature as well.

Btw, obviously, the person saying “go away!!” is still the human villager guy from the previous page… not any of the people on this page. XDD *lol*

Note: This page reveals two interesting things:
1) That the group who brought Kaname there appears to recruit people willing to be turned into vampires, to become their source of blood, rather than attacking just any random human, and,
2) that Kaname is still refusing to bite/possibly turn humans even though that means that he’s knowingly starving himself to the point of passing out (presumably from hunger or maybe from being weakened by not having blood, hence why the hooded person offers him some in the next page, possibly so that he'll be able to help them).

(At least the group took him to a bed after finding him passed out, apparently. ^^;

And we can guess that after the issue with the villagers he might not have dared to use syringes or do it in secret anymore, otherwise he wouldn’t be in such a state of starvation. ^^;;; So maybe that left a heavy mark in how he views such things too. *has so many angst and kinky plot bunnies about what might have happened before they kicked him out of the village. ^^;; )

We also get an interesting view of the source of the group’s worry, a pureblood surrounded by his many kneeling servants, probably one of the people turning a lot of humans, which the hooded people had mentioned earlier.

Note: It’s possible that the hooded person might intend to make Kaname repay the obligation by taking his blood too, but from the person’s last line it sounds unlikely it would be just that. It’s much more probable that they intend to have Kaname fight for their cause if/when a conflict arises between the hooded group and the purebloods who are turning large amounts of humans into vampires.
Furthermore, the reason why they want Kaname to lend them his power (and probably fight for them) might be the upcoming conflict between purebloods we heard about in vk56, and which was mentioned as having happened sometime in the distant past. The first Kuran King created the vampire monarchy to pacify/ unify the vampire race because of that bloody war, during which purebloods had massacred each other and their population had significantly decreased.
Of course, as of now only Hino-sensei actually knows, but it’s quite possible that that war we heard of might have come from a conflict between the group of purebloods wanting to use the humans as they please and the ones wishing for a more peaceful position for their race, and Kaname might end up being a key element in the latter’s victory. We can only wait and see, but it’s quite possible that this could be where this might be leading to.

LUCKY fans who will be able to go to the exhibits!!
I won’t be able to, and I’m dying of agony over it. XD;;; But hopefully next time or something. ;-; There’s gotta be a next time~! :D *optimistic* ♥

Lovely Aidou teaser pic~!! :D :D :D<3333333333333333333333333333333

This month too, there are two teasers:

Isn’t Yuuki lovely in this pic? X3 I like when she has different hairstyles a bit.

I wouldn't worry much about the teaser line, it's so often just to keep us at the edge of the seat... *still shocked that last month's one claimed we'd have Zero showing up....* D: *wanted...*

Incidentally... those two previews are giving me HUGE vibes of Aidou x Yuuki hints, hahaha~ XD Are those maybe the flowers he was holding in the other, and gave her...? XD *lol*

There's so many possibilities for all that might happen ahead in the manga. X3 I'm totally cheering for something epic like Yuuki and Zero both being from the past too so that the threesome can have been close all along or some epic discovery of some sort. XD<3 *lol*

There's no way to know for sure what might be waiting ahead in the manga, but it's always fun to wonder etc. X3

And you might have already seen this in my previous entry, but in case you didn't, here it is, the front cover of the fanbook and the cover of volume 12. Both come out on July 5th.

The official Hakusensha site or even Amazon Japan still haven't updated their pre-order etc. pages with the cover, and surprisingly there was no color preview for it on LaLa, but there was a press release and some news sites in Japan put up the cover~! :D♥

So, thanks to one of those entertainment news sites, here's the artbook front cover + the full cover for the manga~! :D

Artbook front cover:

Please click if you want to see a bigger version.

Manga full cover:

Please click if you want to see a bigger version.

Btw, on the front cover we can't see the full image, but the artbook cover is supposed to unfold to form a large spread with all three of them, according to Hino-sensei. ^^/ There's one pairing on each side to form a larger image.
(More on that in my previous entry, if you scroll down the frontpage of my blog. :D)

So now, the covers are all perfectly balanced again between the pairings, since there's two manga covers with each pairing (vol.4 and vol.11 for ZxY, vol.8 and vol.12 for KxY + some ZxY on 5 and some KxY on 7) + the fanbook and the artbook with the trio together. :D

Being the VK threesome obsessionist I am, a trio cover gives me all sorts of happy mind images with the three laying down together!! X3 ♥♥♥ *looks forward*

Once the artbook is out, I'll rush outside to go buy it (*has it pre-ordered*) and make a post about it as soon as I can, btw... ^^/
Which will hopefully be the same week of the release if I'm not as buried in work deadlines then as I've been these past days. ^^;;;

I can't wait until I have time to write fanfiction & draw pics based on the past stuff or on current times but with the revelations of that chapter too. X3
(Even though Zero doesn't appears much in this chapter somehow the whole chapter fueled SO MANY Zero x Kaname fanfic urges on me. XD;;; See, the clear sign of obsession XD, err, of Zero x Kaname love. XD;

*can't help but want to put Zero x Kaname into any setting and plot situation* XD;;;
And, of course, stuff with Yuuki and the guys too, at least if I can find a moment for it among all the urges for ZxK I have. XD; *licks the LaLa cover eye candy vampires* XDD)

I SO look forward to seeing any fics or fanarts any of you does based on all the revelations etc., btw~! *-*/♥♥♥

------

Please, don't forget to buy your local official releases of the VK manga and anime! :D
(Don't fall for the bootlegs, the anime pirated DVDs are so often made with stolen subs AND are generally of horrible quality. Please make sure to only buy the official DVDs and books, otherwise you're not supporting VK since the money goes to bootleggers instead of to the author etc. ^^;;;)

And that's it for this month~~! :D *hopes you enjoyed the chapter* ♥
