For the first time in about 20 years I am going to have a day job. And just one job (for now). During the day. My hours will be 07:30 to 15:30. I will get an hour long lunch break. I will get to hang with friends in the evening if I want. I will get to socialize with people. Again. If I want (and they want my company, too, I should add).
I admit that I am quite excited by the prospect. But I am also filled with a certain amount of trepidation; the hours will be a major adjustment. I won't have nearly as much solo time as I think I might need. I will have to do things when everyone else does them. And I will have to negotiate daytime office politics. And I'm not much of a political creature (except, perhaps, for Mao's observation that 'power grows from the barrel of a gun' - but I don't think that goes over well in offices).
Simply, I just don't know how this is all going to work.
*gulp*
