I blame homesickness

Does anyone else have horrible self control and do things like stay up too late watching a movie that's not even good?  I was exhausted yesterday yet stayed up until 2 am watching The Hand That Rocks the Cradle simply because it was filmed in Seattle and I wanted to see scenes from home.  The movie is Not Good -- the family hires a live-in nanny so the mom can build a greenhouse in the backyard? -- but the suspense and forgetting how it ended sucked me in.  I did the same thing earlier this week with Sleepless in Seattle -- stayed up too late purely on the basis of the movie having been filmed in Seattle and wanting to spot things I recognized.  Except that movie is actually cute.  And it reminded me that Meg Ryan was actually attractive before she started abusing botox or whatever it is that aging female stars feel compelled to engage in (her lips in Kate & Leopold? Whatever she did to them was distractingly unnatural and weird.).

Anyway, I have homesick-induced tiredness now and need to perk up and clean the house because we're having a BBQ today to celebrate my fiance's (still not used to that word!!) 30th birthday.  Our house can hold about 5 people but 16 are supposed to be attending, so fingers crossed that the weather cooperates.

Happy weekend, all!

seattle, birthdays, movies
