well, we've discussed some options and, temporary panic notwithstanding, it doesn't look like we're going anywhere terribly soon. we have been planning for a while to try to leave in a few years, so we will probably just stick with that plan. for one thing, we would need to sell one or both of our buildings, which would take some time, in order to afford most other places. i think now we have a more realistic idea of the preparation that moving will require (actually finding a new place, selling our property or at least building up some significant savings, having career plans in place for the new location, etc) which is probably a good thing so that we will at least be able to start preparing for the future. in the meantime, i have a few ideas to try to make the most of the time here and also feel as secure as possible.

other than that, not too much is new i guess. since it's starting to get cool and we will probably be short one paying housemate during the coldest part of this winter (we usually have ridiculous gas bills) we have consolidated our main living area into one room and hung the doorways with curtains to try to make it easier to keep warm with a space heater. it's not too cold yet, but i always kind of enjoy having new spatial arrangements, so that is fun. also, last night morgan, ryan and sebastian, who we hadn't seen since last winter, came over for a while. that was really cool, and hopefully we will see more of them in the future. it's hard to juggle everything, but i think my next goal now that some personal projects are getting done is to try to hang out more with people i like.

river has grown about 50% since he was born. it's funny how big he is-- we keep meeting smaller babies who are several times his age. he still can't do much, but he can hold his head up, smile, laugh and babble. we are having a surprisingly great time with him, considering his limited repertoire.
