I can't get my new graphics card to work.
I have a bit of an older system. I had my computer built for me about 6 years ago on a modest budget, so I don't have the greatest system in the world. I was looking to extend the life of my desktop a bit longer by getting a video card that's better than the one I currently have.
Now, my motherboard is a KV8-Max 3.
Specs here. I've got an AMD Athalon 64 3400+ processor, and for video I was running an ATI All in Wonder Pro 9600 Series. Well, I was poking around on Newegg and found a Radeon X1650 Pro for a decent price and decided to order it. It arrived today (yesterday) and I've spent the last 6 hours trying to get it to work. Every time I put in the new card, my POST stops at "Verifying DMI Pool Data" and just sticks there. I've tried everything, defaulted the BIOS, cleared the CMOS, unhooked unneeded hardware to make sure it wasn't a weak power supply. I've checked and double checked to make sure that my system meets all the criteria for this card. And, yes, I properly uninstalled all the software and drivers from my previous card before removing it and putting in the new one. I just can't figure out what might be wrong unless the card itself is defective.
If anyone has any suggestions on anything that might help, I'd love to hear them.
I'm slowly going insane over this.
