A tiny local paper accepted an article I wrote, but went out of business before the issue it would have been published in! It's not entirely surprising, with the state of small businesses and print journalism, but still, ouch! They couldn't have hung on for one more month to give me a paper clip? Needless to say, I was already daydreaming about seeing my work in actual print and planning how this was going to lead to ongoing work, a regular column, local-author fame, and, of course, PROFIT $$$!
