Activities took centerstage in the Huay Guans along Jonker Street. (Clockwise, top left: Line dancing, KTV, provision shop, more line dancing)

RM3 Mango.

Jonker Street.

Chendol. 1 serving every meal.

Beer and peanuts at Discovery Cafe.

Supper, best Or Lua ever!

Trishaw parked outside our breakfast place. Roti Chennai.

We stopped by Kluang on the way back. There's a saying in mandarin, that you would not have not been to Kluang if you had not taste Kluang Rail Coffee's Kaya toast and coffee. So we went in searched of Klaung's coffee, after our bak kut teh.

This kopi joint is right next to the Railway. business was good at 2.30pm. Service was prompt and quick. It had an old charm feel and I LOVED this place.

Can you see the kaya oooooozing? It shouts 'lick me!'

Then we drove to Kluang's biggest mall, bought DVDs and sang karaoke. Dinner was Tze Char, a one hour wait, but really tasty. Everything is really affordable!

There was a calling at the back of my mind: work, but I ignored it as best as I could. This trip reminds me of our free and easy days. We had no agenda and our actions were determined by "spurs of the moment". I enjoyed the old buildings, and the missing skyscrapers. I witnessed a pace of life that was easy and laid back. We had too much food. Fantastic trip.

We reached Singapore, 11.30pm and decided to head for teh at Jalan Kayu. i reached home at.....2am. Proving once again that I'm old, is my rate of recovery. I slept through most of today!

weekends, holidays, trek
