List Of Needs/Wants

Jul 25, 2006 16:57

This is mostly for my own benefit since I've gone into domestic mode the past coupla days. I hit several thrift stores and a few misc. stores like Target and Sears yesterday to get an idea of what we need and how much it'll cost (and to take advantage of a/c). What was neat was that at one of the thrift stores I was able to buy some plates and bowls which look exactly like what endorphan lost with the storage unit.

While shopping I kept mentally adding new things to the list of oh-yeah-we'll-need-one-of-those-too.

Immediate Small Necessities -
silverware (20 piece set)($15-$20)
silverware tray ($15-$20 for a good one)
salt and pepper shakers ($5-$15) (maybe from icebluenothing)
butter dish (with a nobby thing on the lid) ($5-$10)
pizza cutter ($5-$10) (found good one on clearance)
queen sheet set (400 thread count) ($40-$60)
knives (steak and misc. others) ($ depends on how many and what type)
pots (at least one to cook ramen in) ($20 each) (from oniglass)
pans ($10-$20 each)
lamps (two small table lamps for bedroom reading, one larger table lamp and one floor lamp for livingroom) (I'll be getting the ones from the house)
queen box spring ($50? used) (speedie316 and anubis13 are leaving their bed)
can opener ($1-$6) (maybe from windbourne)
shower curtain
cutting board
cheese grater (preferably microplane) ($15) (a box grater from speedie316 and anubis13)
scissors (<$5)
martini glasses ($10)
shaker
ice cube trays (<$5)
computer chair (maybe from brother_speedie chair-sitting for retcon)
cheap outdoor chairs and table (a set is being left by and anubis13)

Big Ticket Items (in order of when we should get) -
Roomba (or vacuum if that doesn't work out) ($200)
TempurPedic mattress and base($700)
Michael's computer ($1,000)
larger TV ($300-$400)
digital camera (prices vary)
XBox 360 ($300)

The suggestion was made that we have a house-warming party. My personal preference (which reality may not allow) would be to have a party on Sept. 3rd since that's my birthday. Unfortunately, with the vagaries of house buying, we may not know when the place will be officially "ours" to warm until late August. On the up side, we don't have a lot of stuff to move in. We need to grab his bed, couch, and loveseat from my house as well as my coffee table and TV stand. Otherwise, everything will already be here!
