You are right. It is actually cold. Maybe the UK will bung on a heat wave just for you. Have a good time. I am sure all will go well, except possibly the weather. Take a shawl or two.

Hmmm... maybe pack lots of not-so-thick layers instead of a few really thick, hard-to-fold/pack things? That way if there's a heatwave you can just wear less layers, but you're still covered in case temperatures stay around the minimum...
