The last three episodes of this season of Dr. Who feature CAPTAIN JACK HARKNESS, He Who Should Not Be Mentioned Without Many Many Capital Letters. Torchwood was abysmal, but I watched every single episode, entirely because of Captain Jack. He's back on Dr. Who, where a rakish captain can be a rakish captain. Now that he's back on Who, where the writing is better and the characters he has to interact with are more 3-dimensional, I'm sure to be very happy. At first, I'd planned to watch all three of the episodes in a row, but I want to share them with John, so I'm pulling myself away from the screen for now.
Special bonus, Derek Jacobi is in one of the episodes. Jacobi has acted beautifully in a number of things, playing a worthwhile Claudius (the best Claudius I've ever seen in ANY MEDIUM, frankly), and a heavily-made-up Cadfael, and and and... but every time I see him, in the back of my head I hear a whispered, "O, for a muse of FIRE!". I'm looking forward to seeing what he brings to Who.
I'm hoping that he, Jack, and an alien settle down in a distant exotic locale together....
No, must not get caught up in such thoughts. Nope. Not at all...
