Tom Tackles The Chalet School & Rosalie At The Chalet School each deal with the idea of a schoolgirl crush - I seem to remember that there's a transcript of at least one of them somewhere here, although you have to register before seeing them
Angela Brazil's books - A Fourth Form Friendship especially comes to mind. And maybe some L T Meade. Others in the community have much more knowledge than I. *g*
You all amaze me. Maybe I should have posted 'does anyone want to write my paper on schoolgirl crushes for me?' ;) No way - I'm having FAR too much fun witht his, even though the books are all devilishly difficult to find!
Meade's "A sweet girl graduate" is set in boarding college rather than shcool, but perfect for the kind of thing you're looking for. And... um... going out to lunch now, but I'll make a list when I get back. ~grin~ "Rivals of Maidenhurst", for example, is all hothouse passion, but I'd have to look up the author.
There are elements in the Dimsie books, though not necessarily among the major characters (who have all sworn off that as a plot point). Brazil is certainly the way to go (Fourth Form Friendship is shot through with it). There are also quite a few one-shot schoolgirl stories around that have that sort of thing, i.e. not part of a series or sequence. The Concerns of Cecily (author is Janet Grey, I think) comes to mind.
