A Valediction

I miss drives to Rockport accompanied by UnderOath. I can't listen to They're Only Chasing Safety without thinking of that time. It's amazing how music can so violently return you to a different time in your life ( Read more... )

john donne is one of my favorite poets EVER. have you read "the flea"? i think it beats out "to his coy mistress" as far as seduction poems go.

i read somewhere that while he abroad, he had a hallicunation of his wife walking across his bedroom with a dead child in her arms. it was right around the time that she miscarried. :(

Yea we actually read all of those today. I definitely liked Forbidden Mourning the best but To His MIstress Going to Bed was pretty raunchy/seductive.

And that's really sad. :(

oh also I think it's incredibly sweet that he still wrote poems like that about his wife even after they had been married for a while. My professor said that was very rare for the time.

I do the other parts like the
"So lets not even DRYYYYYYY YOUR EYES" part!
