One of the groups I hang out with at school has been broken up. A word to the wise: Don't go accusing other people of driving recently deceased friends to suicide unless you have a damn good reason to do so, if you want to incessantly post on Facebook about your moral high ground. Juuuuust sayin'. (Aka: There was an argument. One of the girls involved decided that a plain old argument just wasn't enough, and upped the ante. A lot. The non-ante-upping girl was our recently suicided friend's amicable ex-girlfriend. She's got a history of suicidal ideation and depression, and she was torn up to hell over her ex's death. ...Yeah. A lot of people are mad at ante-upper right now.)

For some reason, my math grade's shot up from a low-C range to a high A this semester. It's highly encouraging; what's less encouraging is that I got my transcript and wha-buh-fuh? A B in Chemistry? I... actually... don't think that's possible, if percentages still work the way they should. So, headin' off to make sure my teacher actually entered some of my grades; there were some mix-ups over whether or not he'd gotten them near the end of the year, and, well...
Speaking of school, I need to pick out classes for next year. So far:
English 12: War and Conflict
AP English 12: Language and Composition
H. Physics
AP Government
H. Precalculus
(and ostensibly Japanese 201 at Pima Community College. Maybe another class in Japanese history or something if I feel like it, but I don't want to be dying from overwork. I've realized that I work best (a) in the short term under pressure, and (b) when there's definitely a good deal of work, but I don't have to struggle, and I'm committed to whatever it is I'm doing. Although I'm hugely interested in Japanese history, it means a lot of work, and I don't want to make it so that I can't ever see my friends because I need to stay home and study.)
I'm not sure which choir I'll be in as of yet; and I'm not sure what my second science credit is going to be. I can take AP Biology, but it's known for being an extremely difficult class, and I'm just not that interested in it. There are a bunch of other standard science options I can take, and some other APs, including AP Chemistry and AP Environmental Science (our school's program is known for preparing students well for the latter exam); but I fret because I want to pad my transcript for college apps.
College apps, though, aren't a great reason to do something; especially if I'd rather take a different class. *makes a face* Meh. And speaking of which, I need to get started on my college essays. (Wow... basically all of the colleges I'm applying to so far are on the East Coast, with the exception of at least Redlands. And of those colleges, tons of them are in Massachusetts. Except for, like, Bryn Mawr and Rutgers. [Incidentally, does Rutgers loathe, despise, and revile non-NJ residents or something? I just noticed that their out-of-state population is a freaking 10%, according to collegeboard. o_o;;;] WHAT IS THIS? Freaking Hampshire College is in Massachusetts. You'd think it might actually be in a place called Hampshire, but noooo. Next thing you know, NYU is going to wind up being in freaking Idaho. At least they're not all in some horrible place like Florida or something. I doubt I'll have to fear being arrested for feeding the homeless in MA; hell, I can even get gay-married! But I have got to ask, how many colleges per square mile have they got? I'll probably wind up failing something because I got lost and started attending class at the wrong college! Nyah!)
