I FINALLY got Sweeney Todd today! I haven't finished watching it, though- what did those of you who've seen it think? The movie, not the stage play. (The stage play, which I've seen a DVD of with Angela Lansbury and George Hearn, was great.) Right now, I've got to say that the voice of the little kid who plays Toby has an AMAZING voice. Eep. I'm kinda jealous. Depp and Bonham-Carter could be better singers, I suppose, but I actually thought that their vocals were adequate overall; in addition I don't really know how much better they could have done, not being professional singers and all.

I thought the identity of the beggar woman might have been a dead giveaway for some since they showed her face. Although I couldn't say for sure since I when I started watching the movie I'd already seen the stage play, and therefore knew that the beggar woman was Lucy.

How did everybody feel about Burton's stylization? I've heard someone say that they wished it was more period appropriate, but I personally liked it and thought it got all of the darkness and grittiness that'd be appropriate for this musical.
