On Holidays, Families, and the vehicularly deceased

I get to spend Thanksgiving with my parents. Each year, my Aunt and Uncle come from Kansas City to hang out for a few days, which I've generally missed because of Black Friday and the fact that I was working retail a year ago. This year there is no getting out of it--I'll be home for the holidays. Generally this involves the house being the cleanest its ever been (there will be more on this later,) fortunately excellent food (I don't know where my dad learned to cook, but he revels in it,) and relatives asking me what I've been doing for the last year (while my parents play the whole 'here is how our daughter is failing at life but...we still love her' card. Again.) Thankfully I've got friends in the area, so I'll have a few breaks from the insanity.

At some point in this week that I'm down with my parents for a wedding and a Holiday (this is starting to sound like a bad National Lampoon movie) I have to figure out what to do with my van, which miraculously decided to break down right after U-E and I got back from New York in September. Thankfully, we'd made just enough at the convention to buy a vehicle, and I'm completely happy with the new Van (purple Dodge Caravan. Being a costumer and major-haul-roadtripper, I'm not going to be in anything smaller than a minivan for another few years.)

Its very funny driving a soccer mom vehicle, especially with the estranged fashion sense I have been granted. Watching people's expressions when I step out into the parking lot in the upscale lifestyle center that Ryn lives behind is turning into an amazing spectator sport--though it did get me free sushi today. ^.^
Maybe I'll stick some anime/game related decal on my van.

...Then at least the pedestrians have advanced warning.

Ah, well, strange journal entry. I'm still working through stuff I typed up a while ago. Maybe these make more sense when read all at once? o.O
